Matthew 16: 13-19

“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” Matthew 16:17b

The most superior and deepest dimension of the Light of Knowledge is Revealed or REVELATION KNOWLEDGE: “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (Matt.16:17b). Revelation Knowledge refers to, not just assumed facts about God and spiritual realities, but the knowledge that has been divinely quickened by His Spirit in the Believer’s regenerated or born-again spirit. The disciples responded by Intellectual Assumptions and Sense Knowledge to Jesus’ question, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man am?” (v.13b). Their answers: “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets” (v.14b). The Lord asked them specifically: “But who do you say that I am?” (v.15b).

Intuitively, Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God” (v.16). Jesus commended and attributed his response to Revelation Knowledge: “…for flesh and blood has not REVEALED this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (v.17b). Jesus was saying to Peter, “You didn’t get this because somebody told it to you. God the Father revealed to you Who I really am.”  We’ve noted in an earlier devotional that knowledge is not neutral, and not all knowledge is desirable. Intellectual, scientific or sense knowledge, is limited, but has its usefulness. Satanic, demonic, or occult knowledge is evil, dark, destructive, undesirable, but often appealing. What we need most profoundly is Biblical, Divine, Revelation Knowledge that comes from God and His Word.

Sense knowledge is knowledge acquired from the five sense gates. Revelation Knowledge transcends “flesh and blood” – the natural. It is insight acquired independent of the senses, from the Spirit of God. As we spend quality time with God and His written Word – the Logos, He imparts His Revealed Word – Rhema, personally into our hearts. Then, we’ll continually encounter the Living Word, Jesus Christ Himself. We need Revelation Knowledge in order to walk as Children of Light (Eph.5:8). All things that pertain unto life and godliness are received through this Knowledge of God (2Pet.1:2-3). Romans 10:17 says Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom.10:17). The amount and quality of Grace, Peace, and Faith we operate in are directly proportional to the revelation knowledge that we have of God through His Word!

Revelation Knowledge is superior to smartness, natural brilliance or intellectual prowess. Peter was uneducated and untrained (Acts 4:13). Yet, he was blessed with Revelation Knowledge. Our Lord Jesus Christ promised to build His Church on the Rock of Revelation Knowledge of Who He is: “And on this ROCK I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (v.18b). God would have us enjoy the Reality of Revelation Knowledge, recognize that it is His Will for us to receive, learn how to receive, and walk in the same (Jh.14:26).

Lord, bless us to enjoy the Reality of REVELATION KNOWLEDGE, recognize it as Your Will for us, and walk therein, in Jesus’ name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
