JOY: SPIRITUAL ENGINE OIL

You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the OIL of GLADNESS more you’re your companions – Psalm 45:7

JOY AND STRENGTH

Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. DO NOT SORROW, for the JOY of the LORD is your STRENGTH – Nehemiah 8:10

JOY AND THE WELLS OF SALVATION

Therefore WITH JOY shall ye draw water out of the WELLS of SALVATION – Isaiah 12:3

JOY AND DIVINE DIRECTION

You shall have a SONG as in the night when a holy festival is kept, and GLADNESS of HEART as when one goes with a flute, to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the Mighty One of Israel. The LORD will cause His glorious VOICE to be heard, and show the descent of His arm… – Isaiah 30:29-30a (NKJV)

JOY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in MUCH AFFLICTION, with JOY of the HOLY SPIRIT – 1 Thessalonians 1:6 (NKJV)

RESTORER OF JOY

And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said unto her, WEEP NOT – Luke 7: 13

The latter part of today’s reading narrates the story of a widow, who perhaps once knew JOY, regressed into sadness and sorrow, but ultimately encountered the Great Restorer of JOY – the Lord Jesus Christ.

JOY THROUGH LIFE’S POTHOLES

My brethren, COUNT IT ALL JOY when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience – James 1:2-3

JOY AND CONTENTMENT

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe – Philippians 2:14-15, NIV

ENJOY THE JOURNEY

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who GIVETH US RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY – 1 Timothy 6:17

SEEDS AND HARVESTS OF JOY

In the morning sow your SEED, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good – Ecclesiastes 11:6 (NKJV)

There are no supermarkets where packets of joy are sold. JOY-SEEDS must be nurtured just like gardens. The question is: What are joy-seeds and how do we come about them? Actually, there are some seeds already planted within us that can produce harvests of Joy. Let’s consider five such seeds that come to mind.

Our Vision
