ANCHORED OR DRIFTING?

Bible Meditation:
Job 1:13-22

Which hope we have as an ANCHOR of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil – Hebrews 6:19

Change is inevitable. Nothing is static in nature. Change can however be positive or negative; progressive or retrogressive. We need to beware of the negative change of DRIFTING: gradually slipping out of divine alignment; wandering from divine purpose. Picture this scenario: you are relaxing on a rubber raft by the seashore, eyes closed, bathing in the sunshine and listening to the gentle crash of waves. You are carefree – until you open your eyes! Alas, you have drifted a long distance from shore. That’s the alarming picture of many lives.

Subtly, yet shockingly, we tend to drift like that spiritually. We suddenly realize how far we’ve wandered from God or His Will! The point of departure begins when the enemy steals our affection for our loving Father by substituting a deceitful twist on our experiences, causing us to doubt and question God instead of trusting Him. Consider Mr and Mrs Job. Both had many reasons to be mad at God. Their children were dead, their fortune drained, and Job’s health damaged. His wife told him, “Do you still hold to your integrity? Curse God and die!” But Job replied, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall I indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In it all, Job did not sin with his lips (Job 2:9-10).

Certain attitudes can set one adrift: wrong association; trivializing integrity; negative thoughts and confessions; placing other human relationships above loyalty to God; believing that we need other than God to be happy or blessed; thinking of God more as a servant, to simply take our orders; resisting His reproofs; turning a deaf ear when His Word seems discomforting; rationalizing, partially obeying or totally disobeying His commands; and being oblivious of the adversary’s strategies.

Beloved, check yourself: are you beginning to drift or are you securely anchored in Christ? The Lord is calling you to stay close and have hope in Him who is the Anchor of your soul and the sole Source of your satisfaction. When you stay anchored to the Rock amidst the storms of life, you’ll avoid drifting away or wandering from the Author of Life.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
