AUTHORITY FOR DOMINION

Behold, I give you the AUTHORITY to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the POWER of the enemy, and nothings shall by any means hurt you – Luke 10:19

Dominion is closely related to Authority. Essentially, Authority confers Dominion. Dominion is the dynamic manifestation of Authority. Dominion is most effectively demonstrated on the Platform of Authority. Therefore, in order to fully and effectively operate in any Dimension of Dominion, we must understand and appreciate biblical authority. What then is Authority? AUTHORITY is delegated POWER:  “Behold, I give you the AUTHORITY to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the POWER of the enemy, and nothings shall by any means hurt you” (Lk. 10:19).

Here, the Lord affirmed that He has given believers authority over all the power of the devil – demons, evil spirits, and all agents of darkness. An apt illustration of authority is when traffic officers raise their hands to stop vehicles, including heavy trucks and trailers. They do not have the physical power or human strength to bring even the smallest vehicle to a halt. What they stand upon is the authority invested in them by the Government they serve. Drivers recognize that authority and stop their vehicles. You also can face the devil, hold up your scepter, and command him to stop in all of his maneuvers.

The Lord Jesus declared: “ALL AUTHORITY has been given to Me in heaven and on earth (Mt. 28:18). Jesus came to take over authority back from the devil who had initially stolen it from the first Adam. Our authority therefore emanates from the Lord’s “All Authority.” The value of our authority is defined by the power that is behind it. God Himself is the Power behind our authority. That’s why the devil and all his agencies and forces are bound to bow to our authority in Christ. The devil is just like a roaring lion, looking from whom to devour (1Pet.5:8). Jesus is the real Lion of the tribe of Judah (Rev.5:5).
