BENEFITS OF DIVINE INTIMACY (2)

“He who dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” – Psalm 91:1

Divine Defence and Protection against Evil are priceless BENEFITS of DIVINE INTIMACY: “He who dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psa.91:1). God, by the Light of His Word and Indwelling Presence of His Spirit, draws the hearts of all True Believers in Christ to the Secret Place – the Place of Divine Intimacy. It behooves each to respond aright. The Lord is calling and directing our hearts to a renewed commitment to that Secret Place of Relationship and Communion with Him. We do well to give ourselves to the Intimacy of abiding in the Presence of the Almighty. The Power of Heaven is unlocked on earth when we devote ourselves to the Secret Place of the Highest. The Secret Place is the Utmost Secret! God wants us to accept the Great Invitation into Divine Intimacy!

The insightful Psalm 91, which reads like the Believer’s Divine Insurance Policy, is a psalm of comfort, encouragement, and assurance for all who believe in God, to trust in His Defence, abiding Protection, and Supernatural Security. The story has been told of how God answered a praying couple repeatedly with the words: “If you need help call 9-1-1.” The Holy Spirit soon quickened them to understand this to be a pointer to Psalm 91:1 God was obviously calling them to Divine Intimacy. Right from the second verse, the Psalmist declares that he'll trust God as his Refuge; and later in the ninth verse, prophesies sure rewards that should encourage Believers of all generations to do the same.

Among the powerful promises of the Psalm of Divine Insurance to those who place sincere trust in God are: Secure Shelter in the Secret Place of the Most High, under His watch and protective wings (vv. 1-4); Deliverance from dark, diabolical, and wicked spiritual powers (vv. 3, 5, 6-9); Preservation under the protection of guardian angels (vv. 10-12); Victory over all enemies (v. 13); and Multiple Blessings of God’s favour, conditioned on consecration to Him (vv. 14-16). God wants us to say “Yes!” to a daily, diligent pursuit of His Person and Presence in the Secret Place. He wants us to gain renewed momentum and a holy fascination to cultivate the greatest gem of human existence – a personal, passionate, living relationship and intimate friendship and fellowship with the Glorious Creator and Sustainer of the Universe!

The Secret Place is crucial to an Overcoming Life; hence our need to sustain Intimacy with God as a daily lifestyle. As with all of His blessings, we receive Divine Defence and Supernatural Security by Grace through Faith in Christ Jesus. As we commit to Intimacy with God and begin to engage in meditation through this Psalm of Divine Insurance, may the manifold ‘Secret Place’ Blessings of Deliverance from destruction, Supernatural Security, and Divine Defence, be our portions in Jesus’ name.
