Bible Meditation:
Ephesians 1: 1-14

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who HAS BLESSED US with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ – Ephesians 1:3

Christ’s redemptive work on the Cross and by His Resurrection unveil the full reality of being BLESSED: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who HAS BLESSED US with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph.1:3). Yesterday, we meditated on what it means to be BLESSED from the standpoint of human CREATION (Gen.1:28). Today’s meditation is from the perspective of REDEMPTION! The first Man, Adam, through disobedience, fell from the Realms of Blessings into Sin, its consequences, and curses. Instead of Fruitfulness and Multiplication, humanity inherited multiplied sorrow and pain in bringing forth children. Where Man should fill the earth and subdue it, the earth became hard ground that demanded toil and sweat, and yielded “thorns and thistles” (Gen.3: 16-19).

Man was driven out of his Blessed Home: “Therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So he drove out the man, and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life” (Gen.3: 23-24). Praise God! Humanity was not abandoned in that pitiable state! The God of Redemption ignited a flicker of Hope to redeem and restore Man. The Lord God told the serpent: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Gen.3:15). Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Seed of the Woman. On the Cross at Calvary, Satan bruised His heel, but by His Resurrection, Christ has bruised the head of the devil eternally!

This epistle began with a panoramic view of the sovereignty of God; like standing on the highest peak of a lofty mountain and taking in the whole grandeur of God’s works from eternity past to eternity future. The view is so breath-taking that it brings us down to our knees in worship and to say, “Blessed be God!” This was the impact that it had on the apostle Paul that he declared: “Blessed be the God and Father” (v.3a). This incredibly encouraging verse of scripture offers three precious truths: (1) God has blessed Believers in Christ will all spiritual blessings; (2) We should praise God for all spiritual blessings; and (3) All spiritual blessings are ours in Christ alone.

Paul was so amazed at the sheer magnitude of these blessings that he kept on writing for fourteen verses running – the longest sentence in the Bible! These blessings reflect the immense privilege that belong to God’s people. They include being: CHOSEN before the foundation of the world (v.4); PREDESTINED unto the adoption of children (v.5); ACCEPTED in the Beloved (v.6); REDEEMED, with all sins forgiven (v.7); INITIATED into the Divine Mystery (vv.8-10). Others are: Obtaining an eternal INHERITANCE (v.11); and being SEALED with the Holy Spirit (vv.13,14). Added to them are other significant blessings mentioned in the rest of the epistle, such as Blessings of: Hope (1:18), power (1:19), peace (2:14), boldness of access to God (3:12), strength (3:16), spiritual gifts for service (4:7), and the whole armour of God (6:11).

Believers have amazing assurances of priceless blessings in Christ. GOD HAS BLESSED US. It’s a Fact! We are blessed with the Holy Spirit and every other spiritual blessing. God has poured out every spiritual blessing on us because of His love. As His children, He has blessed us and will continue to bless us. We don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to experience the blessing of God in our lives. Yes, God’s blessings in heaven are unfathomable; but right now, in Christ Jesus, we can and should be living blessed lives! We should face every of life’s daily difficulties and challenges, remembering that we are blessed. We can walk in every spiritual blessing that’s available in Christ!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
