BLESSINGS FOR UPRIGHT HEARTS

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who WALK UPRIGHTLY” – Psalm 84:11

The LORD GOD has apportioned Victory and diverse BLESSINGS for UPRIGHT HEARTS: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who WALK UPRIGHTLY” (Psa.84:11). Although God’s Love constantly flows toward all of His people, powerfully radiating His goodness and withholding no good thing, this text makes the promise of experiencing the fullness of God’s goodness conditional on those who “walk uprightly” – which begins with an Upright heart. Psalm 112:2 says, “His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the UPRIGHT will be BLESSED.”

Below are few of the numerous blessings apportioned for Upright Hearts:

Divine Defence: God defends and saves the upright: “My defence is of God, who saves the upright in heart” (Psa.7:10). The upright are kept on the basis of their righteousness: “Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but wickedness overthrows the sinner” (Pro.13:6). The upright find strength in God’s Way – in His Will: “The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity” (Pro.10:29).

Divine Intimacy: refers to a special closeness of God to the upright. God watches over the Upright “For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the UPRIGHT” (Psa.11:7). God gives unique attention to the prayer of the upright: “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the UPRIGHT is His delight” (Prov. 15:8). Moreover, the Lord confides in the upright: “His secret counsel is with the upright” (Pro.3:32b).

Divine Illumination: There is light for the upright in heart even though everything around might seem like gross darkness – “Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous” (Psa.112:4). Indeed, “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart” (Psa.97:11). The Upright has irrefutable Right to Light!

Divine Delight:  The Lord delights in the upright in heart. God enjoys the company of the upright and blesses them immeasurably: “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.  His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever” (Psa.112:1-3). Proverbs 11:20 says, “Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless in their ways are His delight.”  

Divine Establishment: even without desperately seeking it, the upright will enjoy what multitudes in the world are inordinately pursuing – prosperity; and such establishment of prosperity shall be trans-generational (Psa.112:2-3). The upright shall possess and dwell in the Promised Land: “For the UPRIGHT will dwell in the land, and the blameless will remain in it” (Pro.2:21).

Eternal Inheritance: The upright will dwell with God and will delight in abundance of peace: “The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever.” (Psa.37:18). The upright will “see the King in His beauty; they will see the land that is very far off” (Isa. 33:17). May all the temporal blessings and eternal rewards apportioned for Upright hearts be ours in Jesus name!
