Matthew 6: 19-34

“For where your TREASURE is, there will your heart be also” – Matthew 6:21

Beloved, join me to CELEBRATE CHRIST – MY TREASURE. The Lord gave a parable: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like TREASURE hidden in a field, which a man found and hid, and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field” (Mt.13:44). This parable follows a man walking through a field and stumbling on something unusual. He never expected to find random riches in a field, but he did. He discovered a lifetime’s worth of wealth, lying unclaimed in his path. ‘How can I have this treasure? What do I have to give or do to own, experience, and enjoy this treasure forever?’  He knew he had to own the field to have the treasure. So he sold everything he had so that he would have enough money to buy the field…EVERYTHING!

The point of the parable is to highlight the infinite, precious worth of knowing JESUS and being known by Him. The man sold everything to have this treasure. He gave up his home and possessions – everything of value. He said goodbye to it all in an instant, all because he could see what he would gain would far surpass everything he’d ever owned up until that point. If we don’t love and treasure Jesus like this, then we don’t know Him. Everlasting life in and with Jesus is indisputably worth more than anything else we can buy, build or obtain here on earth. Earthly mansions are as nothing compared with Him. Classy cars, clothing, hobbies, modern gadgets, and businesses – are all nothing compared with Christ. He is worth all to me!

Christ was David’s Treasure: “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple” (Psa.27:4). And Paul’s also:  “But what things were gain to me, these things I have counted loss for Christ. But indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Phil.3:7-8).

Christ my Treasure is all my Strength: ““And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2Cor.12:9). My Savior is worth all and also works all for me. When I fall down, He who is near to lift me up. When I feel dry, He’s the sustenance and strength my soul needs. At every point that I am weak, His strength fills me and compensates for my weakness in order to show the measure of His power.

Christ my Treasure is all my Heart. Jesus is my strength, the ultimate desire of my heart – my precious Jewel. Wise men still seek Jesus. Every new thing I see – everything I learn about my Saviour – offers me more joy, more faith, and more rest. Jesus is the never-ending, never-exhausted banquet of good for my soul. Nothing tastes better to my heart than Him, as I can keep eating and eating for all eternity: Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusts in Him” (Psa.34:8).

Christ my Treasure is all my Hope: “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jh.1:29). The greatest, most severe crisis for every human being is sin. The good news is that the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, has taken our sin, our cross, our shame on Himself by dying for us. Then, He defeated sin and death by rising again. All our hope is with the Crucified and Risen Treasure of our hearts. All my hope is with the Crucified and Risen Treasure of my heart.

My heart is where my Treasure is! He tells me: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Mt.6:33). Christ truly is my Treasure, my All in All.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
