COVENANT OF HEALING AND HEALTH

He sent HIS WORD and HEALED them, and delivered them from their destructions – Psalm 107:20

God has a COVENANT of HEALING and HEALTH with His children. He puts this Covenant into operation by sending His COVENANT WORD: “He sent His Word, and healed them…” (Ps.107:20). In the Old Testament, Jehovah-Rapha declared as follows: “…If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I brought on the Egyptians: for I am the LORD who heals you” (Ex.15:26). Again, He assured His people: “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfil the number of your days” (Ex.23:25-26).

Healing and health are God’s Will for humanity. Indeed, they are part of the Redemption package that our LORD Jesus Christ obtained for us on the Cross. Christ died not only to save us from sin, but also to deliver us from sicknesses: “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes WE ARE HEALED” (Is.53:4-5). 1 Peter 2:24 echoes the same truth: “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes YOU WERE HEALED.” Christ has TAKEN AWAY sicknesses and REMOVED diseases from our domains (Mt.8:17). Alleluia!

Psalm 91:10 assures: “No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.” The Covenant Word is our covering against every evil; our protection from all plagues. Malachi 4:2 affirms: “But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with HEALING in His wings….” Where sickness has infiltrated, the Covenant Word provides for restoration: “For I will RESTORE HEALTH to you and HEAL you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “this is Zion; no one seeks her”’ (Jer.30:17).

Indeed, God’s perfect plan is not for us to be continually in need of healings, but to live in DIVINE HEALTH and Wellbeing (3Jh.2). Ultimately, our healing and health reside in the WORD: “My son, give attention to my WORDS; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh” (Pro.4:20-22). The Word is effectual medicine for ALL of our flesh and against ALL diseases!
