COVENANT OF JOY

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with SINGING, with everlasting JOY on their heads. They shall obtain JOY and GLADNESS, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away – Isaiah 35:10.

Another key dimension of God’s Covenant is JOY! Jehovah is set to display in our lives, His Joy Unspeakable full of Glory (1Pet.1:8). His Word assures us thus: “For you shall go out with JOY, and be led forth with PEACE…” (Isa.55:12). You do not have to go through life in sadness, sighing and sorrow. If you believe, you will REJOICE without RESTRICTION. Nothing will stop your flow of joy in Jesus name.

The JOY of the LORD is superior to Happiness, which is simply a response to circumstances. JOY is a confidence built on your relationship with God. The hunger for Happiness is insatiable, an illusion which constantly eludes many. Happiness is a floating emotion that is based on prevailing circumstances, transient events, changing emotions, and fleeting feelings. Christianity is not a hunger to be happy. Those who seek happiness too intensely often have little of it; and the world offers many options of counterfeit happiness such as: drugs, games, gambling, liquor, music, partying, porn, theatre, and tobacco!

JOY is a GIFT from God to Believers in Christ who obey His Word in spite of trials, while keeping their hope fixed on the glory which is to come. JOY is produced by the Presence and Spirit of God. The Kingdom of God is Righteousness, Peace and JOY in the Holy Spirit (Rom.14:17). Spirit-filled Christians possess Seeds of joy. Therefore, JOY is a FRUIT of the spirit, independent of circumstances; but dependent on God Himself who dwells within us. When you live and walk in the Spirit, the fruit of Joy will supernaturally burst forth.

JOY is a conscious CHOICE. You can CHOOSE to REJOICE! The secret of Joy is not discovered in the absence of trials, but in the midst of them (Jam.1:2; 1Pet.1:7). When you choose and commit to a life of Joy, God’s empowerment will follow. No devil, demon or adverse situation can silence a Person of Joy! Those who look up to God with a heaven-born confidence radiantly reflect the light of His countenance. Your pursuit of God via the indwelling Presence of His Spirit unstops fountains of Joy within. Then, you must begin to express JOY by faith: through an ever-positive countenance, smiles, laughter, praises, thanksgiving, singing, shouting, and dance. Don’t ever forget: the JOY of the LORD is your Strength (Neh.8:10).
