“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over…”– Genesis 1:28a
Everything was CREATED FOR A PURPOSE: “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen. 1:28). Human existence is not an accident or chance event, but a product of Purpose, which is the Reason for being of a thing. Purpose is the end or aim to which any plan or effort is directed. God is a God of Purpose. Everything He created was made for a definite purpose – a specific reason for being (Gen.1:26). God works all things according to His Purpose and the counsel of His Will: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the PURPOSE of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Eph.1:11).
God has plans and purposes for everything He created. Prior to the creation of human life, God had created and set other non-living entities in their places to fulfil specific purposes: “Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good” (vv.16-18). If God could establish the cycles of the moon and the stars; if He could ordain the purposes, positions and movements of the sun, the planets and the galaxies with such order and precision, is it unlikely that “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord?” (Psa. 8:3, 37:23). Certainly not!
Our meditation text affirms that every human being was created in the image of God and for His grand purpose, which revolves around Dominion. Even human beings take actions on purpose. God created humanity for a Purpose; and human beings have in turn manufactured numerous products to fulfil specific purposes. There is hardly any product of human ingenuity that was not made or manufactured without a definite function, purpose or reason for being. Automobiles are made for mobility; trucks function for hauling; houses are built to provide shelter; schools and colleges are established for learning; grocery stores are set up for basic provisions; and hospitals function to provide medical care.
Over the ages and in diverse climes and cultures, wise men and women have confirmed the primacy of Purpose. Helen Keller said, “True Happiness is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” According to John F. Kennedy, “Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.” Winston S. Churchill wrote: “It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something.” In the words of Michel de Montaigne, “The soul which has no fixed purpose in life is lost; to be everywhere, is to be nowhere.” Thomas Carlyle said: “The person without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder.” Despite the fact that all things exist for one purpose or the other, it is so sad that multitudes go through life having no idea why they are here or what God has purposed for them in life. Such must not be your lot!
In particular, the Believer in Christ is a Person of Purpose. God created you for a purpose on purpose. You were born by and for His purpose. You are not a casualty of creation or an accident of procreation. You are not a mistake that was made and left to be. Your existence is not an error. God built in you the capacity to discover and fulfil purpose. You must come to understand precisely what He sent you to do. You were created for a paramount purpose. It is your prerogative to discover, define, pursue, and fulfil that purpose unto perfection. And there is no better time than NOW!

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
