Bible Meditation:
Proverbs 16: 25-33

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every DECISION is from the Lord” – Proverbs 16:33

Closely related to choices are DECISIONS for IMPACT: The lot is cast into the lap, but its every DECISION is from the Lord(Pro.16:33). This infers that while we make decisions, like casting a lot, it’s God Who ultimately determines the outcome. The emphasis on God’s Sovereignty does not however preclude the making of life’s Decisions. Life is an accumulation of Choices. Destiny is a succession of Decisions. We make our decisions; then our decisions make us! A decision is the commitment to a purpose or a course of action. To decide is to make up one’s mind. It takes a decision to change one’s situation.

Today’s meditation text attests to the fact that a decision can make the difference between life and death: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (v.25). Decision for diligence can liberate from hunger: “The person who labors, labors for himself, for his hungry mouth drives him on” (v.26). Decisions drive all actions, including those of the ungodly, the perverse, the whisperer, and the violent persons (vv.27-29). We can make decisions to be “slow to anger” and be better than the mighty, or to rule our spirit, with city-conquering impact (v.32). Even seemingly trivial decisions can have great impact!

The consciousness of God’s Sovereignty in our lives should encourage trust in His guidance and wisdom, even when faced with uncertain situations or when we don’t understand what’s going on. God is actively involved in our lives, even in seemingly random events; hence the need to seek His direction in our decision-making process. We must take time to pray, study, and meditate in His Word, and seek His Wisdom, and counsel from trusted advisors, before making crucial decisions: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (Jam.1:5, NIV).

God does not intend for us to be fretful about making decisions, or to live in fear of making the wrong or lousy decisions. All He demands is that we ask for wisdom and discernment at every junction, so we can make decisions in the light of His Word. He’ll ensure that even our seemingly “wrong” decisions work out for our good and for His Glory (Rom.8:28). If we believe, trust and obey, nothing can stand in the way of God’s ultimate Will for our lives and destinies! God wants to teach us how to make profitable decision; and how to choose well. He wants to lead us in the right way – “in the paths of righteousness” (Psa.23:3b).

When making decisions, there is more at stake than just the decision itself. We are serving God and influencing others; hence we must reflect: What are the intentions and motivations behind my choices and decisions? Will this decision glorify God?”

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
