God delights in our DISCOVERY of PURPOSE in Life: “The PURPOSES of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out” (Pro.20:5, NIV). Our Purpose in Life is the very meaning of our existence. Without knowing this, we often suffer ignorance of our own significance. We fall prey to the illusion that our lives don’t matter, and may have no connection or impact on the world around us. Purpose is the major source of individual and corporate fulfilment; hence the need for its pursuit and ultimate discovery in life.
Some people have been so driven by the expectations of others that they have not discovered their personal reason for being! Failure to discover purpose in life and a reason for being born, leads to a feeling of emptiness and internal failure, despite substantial material and social success. Until purpose is discovered, existence has no meaning, for purpose is the source of fulfilment. Until Purpose is discovered, life remains an experiment that is based on assumptions and hypotheses. This human need for personal meaning and satisfaction is universal. Each of us must discover this personal purpose and pursue it relentlessly, or a rich, whole, and meaningful life will elude us.
Fulfilment in life is dependent on our becoming and doing what we were born to be and do. Anything less makes life our enemy and death our friend. It is essential that we discover and understand our purpose in life so that we can experience an effective, full and rewarding life. Every product is produced by purpose for a purpose. It exists for its original purpose and thus can find its true fulfilment only in performing such. We are each responsible for the discovery and intentional fulfilment of our purpose, so the world may benefit from our contribution. The discovery of our personal purpose and its relationship to God’s universal purpose must be the basis from which we live.
Beloved, let’s strive to be who we were born to be, as we learn that our purpose, identity, uniqueness and potential, are interdependent. It’s therefore important that we either discover the purpose for everything we encounter in life or refrain from using that person or thing until we gain that knowledge. Only God, our Creator, knows the details of the purpose for our lives, and he delights in revealing such. A man can never experience true fulfillment and peace until he has discovered and is executing the purpose for which he was born.
Just like a trumpet’s purpose is fulfilled when it is blown, a piano when it is skillfully played, a car when it is safely driven and a seed when it becomes a tree, even so our fulfillment is dependent on discovering and fulfilling purpose. The Holy Spirit is available with Insight to enable us draw from our hearts’ deep waters, for the Discovery of Purpose.
