DISEASE IS NOT IN THE DIVINE NATURE

“…you may be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”” – 2 Peter 1:4

DISEASE IS NOT IN THE DIVINE NATURE: “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His DIVINE POWER has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Pet.1: 2-4). Illness is contrary to God's nature. Divine Life and Health are products of Divine Power and the Divine Nature.

God gives good gifts: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (Jam.1:17). Sickness is never a gift from God. Disease is not a divine donation. Sickness is far from being good! People the world over are quite conscious that sickness is bad and rarely offers any good. Think of it: Why do so many hospitals exist, if sickness was beneficial to humanity? Jesus brought salvation from sin as well as deliverance from diseases and healing of sicknesses: “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed” (1Pet.2:24). Any sick person who came in contact with Jesus was healed. Depressions were lifted; fevers disappeared; and demons were cast out.

Jesus had compassion on and healed those who came to Him. He shouldn’t have done so if God wanted people to embrace diseases. God never contradicts Himself. He is the Healer! In John 9: 1-4, the disciples asked a question that still puzzles many people today: “…Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?” (v.2). In other words: Was the physical defect a judgment of God upon the parents for some sin, or upon the child for sins that God knows he will commit? He answered that the blindness was not caused by this man’s or his parents’ sins. It was not God who made the beggar blind. He was not born blind because of anyone’s sins but because sin in general had corrupted the perfect balance that God put in nature. Many maladies happen, not as a direct result of individual’s sins but as an indirect result of sin in general.

The good news is that the Lord Jesus empowers the Believer – the new creation – to be superior to sickness and disease: “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mk.16: 17-18). The divine nature is superior to any disease pathogen, poison or virus. Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Lk.10:19). God wants us to live with the consciousness that we’re partakers of His divine nature; a special breed of people who are superior to anything that’s of the devil (1Pet.2:9).

God’s Life in us is not sustained by natural blood but by His indwelling Spirit: “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Rom.8:11). That the Holy Spirit lives in us is more than a promise; it is a vital reality. It’s time to declare the Word of Faith until the divine Life within gains ascendancy over any hidden or diagnosed disease. It’s time to take charge, to walk in Dominion by the Word, and from the realm of the spirit, declare Victory over sickness, disease and death. Hallelujah!
