DIVINE PRESENCE AND REST (5)

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” – Psalm 91:1

Total protection and absolute safety reside in the DIVINE PRESENCE and REST of Intimacy with God: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psa.91:1). Living in His Presence shields us from the world’s chaos. Real safety and peace are not found in running away from danger, but in hiding deep within the Presence of God. When we make the secret place of the Almighty our permanent abode, rest becomes our natural atmosphere, and no storm can shake our soul.

It is incredibly easy to spend our days gripped by anxiety about our health, families, and futures. Many people try to find safety in financial security or political stability, but the events of life prove that these things can fail. God offers us a completely different security system: Divine Presence and Rest. In a world filled with constant alarms, bad news, and hidden dangers, we can live covered by God’s Ultimate Protection and Peace. In Psalm 91, we are introduced to a spiritual fortress that no enemy, disease, or crisis can penetrate.

The secret to this total protection is revealed in the very first verse. It does not say the person who visits the secret place when they are in trouble, but “he who dwells” – one who moves in and makes God’s Presence their permanent address. When we live that close to God, we are covered by His shadow. In the natural, a shadow is only cast when an object is incredibly close to the light source. To be under God's shadow means we are close enough to touch Him. In that sacred space, fear dies, panic stops, and a deep, divine rest settles over the heart.

Hiding in God’s Presence gives us the right to live under His shadow – His secret address (v.1). The Almighty is all-powerful; but there is a place for personal confession, boldly declaring our trust in God is as Refuge and Fortress (v.2). He delivers from the enemy’s hidden traps and deadly diseases (vv.3-4). He covers us with His feathers like a protective parent bird, and His truth becomes our bulletproof shield. Resting in Him, we’re free from fear – of terror by night, arrows by day, or plagues in darkness (vv.5-6). We are totally insulated from evil and supernaturally immune from disaster, evil, and plague (vv.7-10). Added to these are our Angelic Escorts (vv.11-13).

The secret place is not a physical room; it is a spiritual condition where our hearts are so full of God that fear has no space to sit. God is our Hiding Place (Psa.32:7). His Name is a Strong Tower (Pro.18:10). The Divine Covenant as we love Him and hallow His Name (vv.14-16). His Promises: He’ll answer our prayers, deliver us from trouble, honour us, satisfy us with longevity, and show us His salvation.

In Jesus’ Name, I boldly declare that:

I dwell permanently in the Secret Place of the Highest. I rest perfectly under the unshakeable shadow of the Almighty.

The Lord is my personal refuge, fortress, and ultimate safety. No trap of the enemy and no sickness can succeed against my life.

I refuse to fear the terror of the night or the arrows of the day. God's angels have strict orders to protect, guard, and always carry me through.

No plague, tragedy, or demonic setback will ever come near my domain. I am satisfied with a long, healthy life, and I walk in God’s salvation.
