“If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success”– Ecclesiastes 10:10
DIVINE PRODUCTIVITY recognizes that energy without strategy is a recipe for exhaustion: “If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success” (Ecc.10:10). Divine Productivity requires both holy zeal and sharp wisdom. In today’s meditation passage, Solomon observed an “error which proceeds from the ruler” – a world turned upside down where folly is set in high dignity while the rich and wise sit in low places (vv.5-6). He noted the hidden hazards of everyday labour: digging a pit can lead to falling into it, and breaking a wall can invite a serpent’s bite (v.8). It is within this context of workplace hazards and societal anomalies that Solomon introduced the ultimate antidote to frustration: Wisdom – and the Law of the Sharpened Ax!
Our key verse provides a powerful metaphor of a lumberman hitting a tree with a blunt axe. Hard work without strategic tool-sharpening results in unproductive sweat, because double the energy is expended for a fraction of the results. Verse 15 cements this by explaining that the “labour of fools” is wearying and unrewarding simply because they lack basic direction and strategy – they do not even know the road to the city. God does not just give us strength to swing the axe; but also, the wisdom to sharpen it. Sweat is not a measure of productivity; impact is. Working hard without working wise is like running on a treadmill – one burns energy but never changes position!
A blunt instrument multiplies labour, but a sharp mind multiplies leverage. It’s time to pause and sharpen our capacity, invest in upgrading our skills, learn new technologies, and study new strategies. Endless work without personal development leads to burnout and stagnation. We can replace sweat with strategy. Before launching into any project, we must seek the “wisdom that brings success” – that’s “profitable to direct” – by asking if there is a more efficient, Spirit-led way to accomplish the task. It’s wise to clarify our direction and know where we are going; not just run! We must ensure that our daily routines are directly aligned with our ultimate destination and God's Call for our lives.
In Jesus’ Name, I affirm that:
I step out of the realm of unproductive sweat and struggle into Divine Performance and Productivity, to occupy my rightful place of Honour.
The spirit of foolishness and aimless labour is permanently broken from my life, and I am exempted from the errors of life and leadership.
I am shielded from the weariness of fruitless, futile efforts and granted creative insights that compress years of toil into days of reward.
I will not wear myself out in frustration; my path to the city is clear. Divine Favour compensates for my limitations, giving effortless Victory.
Discretion guides my steps into seasons of overflow. I receive the grace to pause, re-evaluate, and sharpen my tools for global relevance.
My mind is supernaturally sharp. My strategies are infused with Kingdom Wisdom and Insight. All of my investments are secure in Christ.

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
