DIVINE PROFIT (6)

“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty…” – Proverbs 3: 9-10a

DIVINE PROFIT responds to the Covenant Trigger of Honour: “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Pro.3: 9-10). Divine Performance does not happen in a vacuum; it responds to Honouring God. Honour is the currency of the Kingdom. When we honour God with our resources He honours our labour with Profit. This is the Master Key to moving from ordinary survival to supernatural overflow. Prioritizing honouring God builds an unshakeable fortress around our assets.

This Wisdom discourse written by King Solomon as a fatherly address to a son, outlines the path to an enduring, peaceful, and prosperous life. It urges the believer not to forget God's law but to bind mercy and truth around the neck (vv.1-3). The rewards: “favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man” (v.4). Acknowledging and trusting God with all of our heart secures divine direction, health, and strength (vv.5-8). Then, the radical principle of economic expansion: Bring the first fruits to God was an act of profound trust, acknowledging Him as the source of rain and fertility (vv.9-10). In the ancient agrarian economy, these represented the earliest and best portion of the harvest.

The expectation is clear: Put God First in all things! Honouring God with our material possessions is not a loss; it is an investment in Divine Security. When we give God the first and best, He sanitizes and multiplies the rest. The result of this honour comprises barns filled with “plenty” and vats overflowing with new wine (v.10). In God's economy, Honour is the trigger for Divine Profit and maximum yield. Practising this Principle of Priority is not just about giving God (or the church) money. It’s about acknowledging that the First Place belongs to God in all aspects of our lives, making it a lifestyle to honour Him first, with time, talents, and treasures, rather than giving Him leftovers!

We must cultivate a heart attitude and mindset of trusting God first. He is more interested in our heart than our money, but our money is a strong reflection of where our heart truly lies. Relying on our myopic human calculations alone causes financial anxiety and limits us, but trusting God with our resources plugs us into His limitless reserve. It makes sense therefore to prepare our barns to be filled with overflow.

In Jesus’ Name, I affirm that:

As I honour the Lord with my resources, my financial foundation is secure, and the first fruits of my increase open doors of unusual favour.

The devourer is rebuked over my labour and endeavours. I break free from the spirit of scarcity, and enter into seasons of covenant plenty.

My "barns" of investments and assets are filling up with supernatural abundance. I am moving steadily into a reality of perpetual overflow!

Lack is a thing of the past. My "vats" are bursting open. I experience an overflow of divine ideas, overflowing joy, and fresh opportunities.

I will never lack the "new wine" of the Holy Spirit's inspiration. I walk in divine wisdom to make profitable decisions for generational wealth.
