DOMINION AND DELIVERANCE

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of His Love – Colossians 1:13

“He delivered us…and translated us into the Kingdom”! Our deliverance from the authority of darkness was simultaneous with our translation into the Son’s Kingdom – the King’s Domain. Christ didn’t just set us free, only to begin to struggle through life. No, His deliverance power automatically ushered us into the realms of Dominion. We may therefore conclude that Dominion is the chief evidence of Deliverance! Whatever you have been delivered from no longer has dominion over you! God has ordained His children to experience total deliverance and to exercise dominion in all dimensions of life!

Originally, God made the earth and the fullness thereof and gave Adam dominion over all the works of His hands. In other words, Adam was the god of this world. Unfortunately, Adam committed high treason and sold out to Satan, hence Satan, through Adam, became the god of this world (2Cor.4:4). Now Satan – the Usurper – has a right to be in this world and be the god of this world until “Adam's lease” runs out. Satan received the right to rule over us until we became new creatures and got into the Body of Christ, as we see in Colossians 1:12-13 – "Giving thanks unto the Father... Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son...."

By virtue of the New Birth therefore, Satan no longer has the right to rule us or dominate us. Yet the average Christian seems to have more faith in Satan's authority and power than in God's! Many Christians know nothing about the authority of the believer. Some really don't believe we have any authority. They live as though they were barely saved. They expect to go through life under the dominion of the devil. They often magnify the devil more than they do God, forgetting that: the Greater One is in us! As we identify with Christ, we come to the realisation that having died with Christ; He has also raised us up together with Him. We must learn to take our place of authority.

God already has delivered us from the authority of darkness! Therefore, we’ve got the right to command and dispel darkness – that is, Satan and his kingdom – and they’ll obey and bow.
