FAITH IS...

Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1

FAITH is a FORCE, a spiritual, supernatural force. It is the living Force drawn from the living Word to produce living proofs. Faith is spiritually tangible. It is not an intellectual fact, a philosophical concept or a psychological feeling. Faith is a spiritual principle of life. Faith is a Law of the Spirit authenticated and validated by God’s Word, to which other levels of law bow!

“Now Faith is the SUBSTANCE…” – it is a spiritual reality which produces tangibility. Faith substantiates the spiritual. The story of the woman with the issue of blood buttresses these truths. By the force of faith, she drew virtue (anointing) from the Living Word, to produce the living proof of supernatural healing of the flow of blood. Jesus knew faith was at work (Mk.9:22).

FAITH in God can also be defined as total TRUST, strong BELIEF and unquestioning CONFIDENCE. Faith is more than believing. It is belief in God’s Word to the point of obedience. It is obeying God as proof of believing Him, which commits Him to perform His Word. Faith is BELIEVING and BEHAVING the Word of God in order to manifest the will of God. When you believe and obey the Word, knowing that the scriptures cannot be broken, God is committed to perform. Faith is the active belief that God can do what He says He can do, and will do what He promises to do.

However, what God empowers us to have and demands us to exercise is FAITH IN GOD, as distinct from natural, human faith. Faith in God is spiritual, supernatural and superior to natural human faith. All human beings have some amount of natural faith, but at the new birth, a measure of supernatural faith is injected, first for salvation, and then for every other blessing and gift you will ever receive from the Lord: justification, sanctification, deliverance, healing, holiness, protection, provisions, prosperity, promotion, riches, success, wholeness of the spirit, soul and body, wisdom and wealth. You need faith to live the Christian life effectively, to walk the Christian walk worthily, to run the Christian race triumphantly, to live above the world, to live to please God, to overcome the obstacles blocking the way on the royal route to heaven, and to enter the rest of God. “…This is the Victory that overcomes the world, even our FAITH” (1 Jh.5:4b).
