FAITH’S CALL

BY FAITH Abraham, when he was CALLED to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, OBEYED; and he went out, not knowing whither he went – Hebrews 11:8

The CALL to a life of FAITH is a call to walk with God in manifest TRUST and covenant COMMITMENT. It is possible to claim to have faith, but actually lack it. Father Abraham and other heroes of faith did significant things in their walk with God. Though he did not know where he was going, Abram trusted the One who called him out from his “comfort zone,” that He would take care of him and see him through. Abraham’s faith earned for him God’s friendship and an everlasting covenant of blessing. Faith is the best way in which we can honour and please God; and doing so will always be rewarded (Heb.11:6).

We learn from the example of Abraham, what Faith is: to accept and embrace God’s Will and verdict in all situations. The blessing of Abraham’s life could only come in the land of promise. Faith always says “Yes, Lord!” Faith is when what we believe for aligns with God’s perfect will. Therefore, learning to identify the will of God is essential to exercising our faith. Faith that is outside the will of God is mere fantasy or wishful thinking. To everyone who would be richly blessed and made a blessing, there is the inevitable command, “Get thee out…” For Abram, the Call of Faith demanded that he:

Get out of the land of idols. Abram’s father – Terah – and his fore-fathers in the Ur of Chaldeans served other gods. The ‘friend of God’ could not remain among idols and continue to touch the unclean thing. 2 Corinthians 6:17 re-echoes God’s Heart: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” God needed a sanctified Nation separated from contamination unto Himself; hence, the Call of Faith!

Get out IN FAITH. “He went out, not knowing whither he went.” Faith is the Venture that turns life into a Victorious Adventure! Abraham ventured by faith; but as he stepped out on what seemed a void, he found it rock beneath his feet. Day by day a track appeared across the desert, and all his needs were met till he reached the place of blessing.

Our Father-God calls us to a LIFE of FAITH in Him, just as Jesus Christ demanded faith from His disciples as a prerequisite for following Him and experiencing the supernatural. He says in Mark 11:22b-23: “…HAVE FAITH IN GOD. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” The key proof of Faith is Obedience: BY FAITH Abraham, when he was CALLED…OBEYED…”
