FAITH FUSE

Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of MUSTARD SEED, which a man took, and sowed in his field: – Matthew 13:31

Speaking about faith, the Lord Jesus used the imagery of a grain of mustard seed which was well known to the agricultural world of Bible days. He used this familiar farming language to illustrate the spiritual reality of faith. In our modern, mobile, high-tech-driven society, Jesus would probably have compared faith to a tiny FUSE or computer’s MICROCHIP.

A fuse is a small metal element which offers low resistance to electric current. Low resistance means high conductivity. The fuse therefore determines how much electricity flows to meet energy needs. Like the grain of mustard seed, the significance of a fuse is not in SIZE, but in “CONDUCTIVITY”– the degree to which the fuse conducts or inhibits the flow of electric current. Translated into the spiritual, faith determines how much of the power of God flows to wherever it is needed.

When resistance in obedience to God’s Word is low, the power rating is high. On the other hand, a high resistance to the Word results in a low level of the power of God in operation! A high-resistance fuse would either carry no power or ultimately blow and destroy appliances. Such was the height of resistance to Living Word in Jesus’ own country, that “He did not many mighty works there because of their UNBELIEF” (Matt.13:58). When the Word of God is resisted through UNBELIEF, the power of God, though present, cannot flow to bless and meet human needs.

Disobedience and unbelief blow the fuse; and those who blow the faith-fuse suffer life-long POWER FAILURE. When God’s Word means little to a person; the power of God is little or ineffective in such a life! What’s the condition of your Faith-fuse?
