FAITH FOR IMPACT (9)

“God has dealt to each one a MEASURE of FAITH” – Romans 12:3b

FAITH for IMPACT always begins as a Seed – the Measure of Faith: “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a MEASURE of FAITH” (Rom.12:3). The King James Version and English Standard Version refer to “THE MEASURE of FAITH.” Every child of God received the measure of His kind of Faith at New Birth. The Gospel of Christ is the Word of Faith: “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the WORD of FAITH which we preach” (Rom.10:8b). It is the Word of the Gospel that we heard that produced Faith in our hearts.

Romans 10:17 says, “So then FAITH comes by HEARING, and hearing by the WORD of GOD.” The same Gospel of Jesus Christ heard by each Believer came with this Measure of Faith. The Faith to believe and receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour came to us by hearing the Gospel. This is the way every Believer received the Measure of Faith that saved our souls. No Believer should therefore struggle for Faith! The Measure of Faith received at New Birth is God’s Supernatural Faith that enables us to become a Believer – a New Creation (2Cor.5:17).

At Salvation, God deals to every Believer the Measure of Faith, also known as SAVING FAITH – the Faith that brought us into Christ. One must be born again to have received this Measure of Faith that comes by hearing and embracing the Gospel of Christ. However, this Faith cannot function by itself without God. It can only function when we live in fellowship and intimate union with God, because it is God’s Faith that came through God’s Word and can only stay active and dynamic by constantly hearing, meditating in, and obeying or doing God’s Word.

There is no Believer who does not have Faith: “For by grace you have been saved through FAITH, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of GOD” (Eph.2:8). Faith is not a product of mental effort, but the supernatural Gift of God. However, the eventual maturing in Faith is a personal responsibility, which predicates upon commitment to hearing, meditating, obeying, and doing God’s Word consistently. The Believer is responsible for whatever the measure of Faith becomes after New Birth. We can grow our Faith in God through daily exercise in His Word.

Every Believer has received the Measure of the Supernatural Faith of God. It is what we do with this measure that determines how strong we are in Faith. As Believers, we have the Supernatural Gift of Faith to function profitably and victoriously in His Kingdom (1 John 5:4). We have the Faith of the Son of God (Gal.2:20). We have the Faith that moves mountains. We have Supernatural FAITH for IMPACT!
