FOUNDED

For other FOUNDATION can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ – 1 Corinthians 3:11

The Ordered Life is a FOUNDED Life – a life founded on faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – His Word, His Name, His Blood. He who founded the earth, who “determined its measurement” and “laid its cornerstone” is the One who founded our lives (Job 38:4-7). He is more than able to deal with any defect and restore our lives to His original and perfect settings. A foundation is the basis upon which a structure stands, is founded, or is supported, and a strong and solid foundation is necessary to withstand the storms of life. Whoever builds his house on sand rather than on a rock will see it crumble under the tempests of time. The same is true for our spiritual lives. The true foundation for eternal life and a life that is genuinely transformed is the Person and work of Christ. The ordered life is a principled life, and principles are the basic foundations upon which the structures of life are built. For every believer, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the First Principle and Primary Priority!

Permit me to personalize these truths: The Lord Jesus Christ is my Firm Foundation and the Rock of my Salvation. He is the only Foundation for the guarantee of a full and fulfilling life (1Cor.3:11). He is the Foundation for everything that is of eternal value. It is to the extent that your life is built upon Christ that you are enabled to face and overcome the challenges of life in this failing and fading world (Jh.16:33). Jesus Christ is the Rock of ages and of our Salvation – the eternally abiding Rock upon which our salvation stands. He is the unchanging Changer: “the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Heb.13:8). Peter described Him as the Living Stone: “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house” (1Pet.2:4-5). He is my precious Chief Cornerstone; and I trust in Him to remain my solid Rock and sure Hope for all of time and eternity. Even the Corporate Church – the Body of Christ – has been founded on a structure that has “Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Cornerstone” (Eph.2:20).

In order to experience the Lord as our Firm Foundation, FAITH is first and fundamental: “…giving all diligence, add to your FAITH.” (2Pet.1:5). You don’t add faith to anything; you add everything else to faith! Without faith, you cannot connect to God, and without God you can do nothing (Jh.15:5). Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Heb.11:6). Jesus’ prayer to secure Peter’s future was that his “faith faileth not” (Lk.22:32). When faith fails, the future is unsure. No faith; no secure future! There is no alternative to faith, only frustration and failure. Faith is the baseline for the fulfilment of purpose in every area of life and all dimensions of destiny. Faith is the foundation for the fulfilment of every dream, vision, goal, and mission. Faith in Christ makes the difference in life. Everything about your destiny revolves around your faith. Yet, faith is universal in application. When it comes to faith, God does not discriminate by gender, age, class or colour. Faith delivers and performs as you work it out, irrespective of your background, location or situation!

Faith is a foundational Kingdom Principle. Every lifting, rising and shining in the Kingdom is traceable to faith in God. Faith however “comes by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of GOD” (Rom.10:17). In practical terms therefore, the WORD must be our firm foundation! It is the Word that gives structure and ORDER to life. The wise builder – the “Doer” of God’s Word – built his house upon the rock; whereas the foolish one built upon the sand, trivializing the Word, with fatal consequences (Mt.7:24-27). Your attitude to God’s Word – your faith determines your fate in life! What is your foundation? To what extent is your life founded on the Rock – the Lord Jesus Christ? Is your Faith in His Word, His Name, and His Blood?
