FULLNESS OF POWER, MIRACLES AND WONDERS

Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by MIRACLES, WONDERS, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves know – Acts 2:22

Welcome to MAY – our Month of the Fullness of POWER, MIRACLES and WONDERS. It’s been gratifying, walking in the Light of God’s Word. 2019 is our Year of Flourishing in the Fullness of God! In January, we meditated on the Fullness of God; in February, on what it means to Flourish; in March, on Favour, Grace and Mercy; and in April, on the Fullness of the Word, Spirit and Life! The Fullness of God’s Word and Spirit will always cause the release of His Supernatural POWER, evidenced in the manifestations of MIRACLES and the workings of WONDERS! Our Father-God is God of the miraculous, and the Wonder-Worker!

The most common Greek word that is translated “POWER” is dunamis, which speaks of the dynamic, explosive, supernatural power of God. MIRACLES are God’s visible, spontaneous, and sudden interventions in the normal course of lives. They are “divine interruptions” of the natural laws of time, space, and matter. The Power of God produces miraculous manifestations! A WONDER is a marvel, something unusual that dazzles and amazes the observer or spectator. Wonders are God’s divine acts; and the Power of God works WONDERS: “Then fear came upon every soul, and many WONDERS and signs were done through the apostles” (v.43).

The Almighty God is the Omnipotent One – the Possessor of ALL POWER. He is “the Most High God, the POSSESSOR of heaven and earth” (Gen.14:22). His Unlimited Power is perfectly expressed in the Person of His Son Jesus Christ: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ALL POWER is given to Me in heaven and in earth” (Matt.28:18). Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God WITH POWER, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” (Rom.1:4). Hence, He is the ultimate Source of all dimensions of Power, both in heaven and on earth. Every other power is subject to the Command of His Matchless Power. To receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, to embrace and connect with His Person through the Holy Spirit, is to be ushered into unprecedented Realms of Power. It is to become a Partaker of Divine Power: “But as many as received Him, to them gave He POWER to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (Jh.1:12).

Shortly before His ascension to Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ gave the disciples the Promise of Power: “Behold, I send the Promise of My father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with POWER FROM ON HIGH” (Lk.24:49). Later, He reiterated this Promise: “But you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Then, the promise began to be fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, as the disciples tarried in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1-4). The activities of the early church bear witness to the Promised Power. Moreover, the book of Acts is a record of a Church demonstrating the Power of God!  

Although it appears that one missing dynamic in the Church today is the demonstration of God’s Power, His Promise remains the privilege of every generation of believers. His promises never fail. I believe that we are in the Day of God’s Power, when His people would be willing (Psa.110:3). I believe that the end-time Church will evince the Power of God in greater degrees than ever, as God empowers us to awake, arise, and shine under the banner of His Glory (Isa.60:1-3). The Power of God is being released by Spirit-filled Christians stepping out in faith and obeying God’s Word before an unbelieving world. Beloved, in this unique Season, I exhort that you stand in faith and believe God for the Fullness of His Power, Miracles, and Wonders!
