2 Timothy 3: 1-17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” – 2 Timothy 3:16a

The Bible is GOD’s SUPERNATURAL BOOK: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2Tim.3:16a). The Christian community has something to offer that no one else has: the truth of redemption in Christ found only in the Scriptures. Sadly, many churches have jettisoned the inspiration of Scripture, and given in to societal fads, fashions, and perversions (vv.1-4). Rather than running about trying to keep up with the world, we need to return to the one thing that strengthens the church, God’s Word. Paul told Timothy about the significance of Scriptures: These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth” (1Tim.3:14-15).

The word "pillar" must have held special significance to the Ephesians. The greatest glory of Ephesus was the temple of Diana or Artemis – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – with its 127 pillars. These were all made of marble, and some were studded with jewels and overlaid with gold. The idea is that the mission of the Church is to hold up the truth for all humanity to see. The Bible is God's Word which the Church is to display, by faithfully expounding the truth (Jh.17:17). The Church however seems to be forsaking its calling, and gradually becoming an arena of entertainment, all in a bid to attract crowds! That they no longer see the Bible as a supernatural book may be the reason for departing from the truth (1Tim.4:1).

Here are few validating characteristics of the Bible as a supernatural book:

The Bible is unique in composition. Written over 1600 years, on three continents – Asia, Africa, and Europe – and in three languages – Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, this library of 66 books was written by 40 different authors, all from radically different backgrounds. Yet there is a continuity and consistency of theme woven through its pages. That is supernatural!

The Bible is also unique in circulation: It has been copied and circulated more extensively than any other book in human history, and has been on the best seller list since the genesis of written records. The Bible is unique in availability: it is the single most translated book in history – in over 1,700 different languages.

The Bible is unique in durability: it has survived bans, burnings, ridicule, and criticism. Kings and despots have tried to eradicate the Bible to no avail. It has been subjected to more abuse, perversion, destructive criticism, and hate than any other book. Yet, it continues to stand the test of time while its critics are refuted and forgotten.

The Bible is unique in impact: the effect it has on the lives of multitudes. People read books, usually finishing and then going on to the next one. Not the Bible! People read it over and over, memorize it, and compose songs from its words. In the most intimate moments, the Bible is the book to turn to for comfort, healing, and hope because its words are alive. People carry the Bible with them, and even own multiple copies. Men have died for this unique book, so that others may live by it!

The Bible is authentic, accurate and reliable in its evidence: it remains a credible ancient document, backed by continuing archaeological discoveries. It is an authentic portrayal of real people and real events. The Bible is was divinely inspired in its totality: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (vv.16-17).

The Bible is supernatural in its prophetically accuracy: “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2Pet.1:21). This supernatural book changes lives, gives comfort in life's darkest hours, and strengthen souls through life's trials. In this book Jehovah reveals Himself and His love to all of humanity!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
