Proverbs 4: 10-27

“But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day – Proverbs 4:18

GOD’S WORD is a LIGHT to MY PATH: But the PATH of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day (Pro.4:18). This promise is premised on walking in the Light of God’s Word: “Your Word is a Lamp to my feet and a LIGHT to MY PATH” (Psa.119:105). The term “path” describes the believer’s trail through life – the choices, decisions, actions, and moves made in the course of life. God leads His people in the way of wisdom and “in right paths” (v.11). Walking in these right paths, our “steps will not be hindered”; and when we run, we will not stumble (v.12). The Light of God secures our steps in life. Walking in the Light of His Word also guides and guards our feet from “the path of the wicked” and “the way of evil” (v.14, 19).

The feet are used, not only for standing firm, but also for walking and running – for taking steps. God’s assurance of His Word being a lamp to our feet and a light to our path is an impetus for us to TAKE a STEP and successive steps on the Journey of Destiny! Yet, we’re often reluctant to venture out and take that next step, because we can’t see what lies beyond. We don’t know where the next step will take us. We’re hesitant in leaving the safety of what’s known. Like the psalmist, we need God’s Word to guide and guard our steps. Only His Word can correctly inform us to distinguish right from wrong. And, the more deeply steeped we are in His Word, the more clearly we can discern right from wrong and choose the right path.

God calls us to follow where He leads, fixing our eyes firmly on Him and trusting He will lead us on the right path: Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.  Ponder the PATH of your FEET, and let all your ways be established” (vv. 25-26). We must trust God’s Word as the Light to show us the Way. In a truly dark place, even a single move could be tragic. We live in a spiritually dark world where souls are in constant peril. God’s Word is a light for our path as we live in this dark world. His Word can sneak a peek into future events; but it can also help us to understand right from wrong as we face current choices.

Beloved, are you surrounded by darkness to any extent? Are you unsure where to step next? Are you uncertain about venturing beyond the known? Are you allowing God’s Word to be a light in your life? Are you following the light of God and allowing Him to lead and direct you? Are you staying on the same spot, afraid to trust God and venture out into the darkness? Or, are you trying to light your own torch and make your own path? Where is your gaze fixed? Are you focused on the things of this world or is your gaze firmly fixed on God? It’s time to step forward on whatever path God is illuminating for you!

While we may desire a big floodlight to show the way, God promises us progressive illumination: He shows us just enough to take the next step, and requires us to trust Him completely with the rest of the path. He asks that we release our anxious desire to know the destination and all the twists and turns along the way, but trust Him to lead us through. God’s Word is both a lamp and a light: “For the commandment is a LAMP; and the law is LIGHT; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life” (Pro.6:23). In every place we go, we will need God’s Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
