GOD’S WORD IS EVER RIGHT

“For the word of the Lord is RIGHT, and all His work is done in truth” – Psalm 33:4

Central to the Believer’s Faith is the fact that GOD’S WORD IS EVER RIGHT: “For the word of the Lord is RIGHT, and all His work is done in truth” (Psa.33:4). Psalm 33 is a call to lively and joyous praise to God for His glorious attributes and works, as displayed in creation, and His general and special providence. In view of this, the Psalmist professes trust and joy and invokes God's mercy. Let’s be enriched by examining three parallel versions of today’s key verse of Scripture:

• For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does (NIV). His Word is RIGHT and TRUE, never wrong or false, and this makes God to be faithful in ALL He does. God never speaks wrong. He is never found on the side of the wrong.

• For God’s Word is solid to the core; everything he makes is sound inside and out (MSG). God’s Word is SOLID TO THE CORE. No fakery, falsehood, make-belief or hollowness can ever be attached to His Word. Everything God makes is made by His Word, and therefore SOUND INSIDE and OUT! This Solid Word is able to build solid lives and rock-solid destinies. God’s Solid Word provides a Sound and Firm Foundation for all aspects of our lives – our marriages, homes, careers and ministries.

• For the word of the LORD is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness (NASB). The Word of the Lord is UPRIGHT, honest, honourable, dependable, just, and faultless. God’s upright Word ensures that all His work is done in faithfulness. His Word can be trusted. Psalm 119:128 says: “Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be RIGHT…”

The world is known for duplicity and relativism, as if there are no absolutes. Humanists and Relativists deny claims to objectivity and assert that facts are relative to the perspective of an observer or the context in which they are assessed. Such philosophical views have been propagated so extensively that realities of sin and judgement, heaven and heal, righteousness and eternal rewards, are being questioned. The foundational principles of morality and justice are being eroded. Praise God! God is faithful! We can trust His promises to be kept and His purposes to be good. Each day’s morning sunrise and evening sunset are reminders that our Heavenly Father is at work keeping His Universe in working order, by His Word: “upholding all things by the word of His power” (Heb.1:3).

The revealed Word of God: the law of the Lord is right; its precepts are holy, just, and good; its sanction or penalty is righteous; it is impartial unto all; it is just in condemning the wicked, and in acquitting believers on the account of Christ's perfect righteousness, by which it is magnified and made honourable. The Gospel of Christ is right; it publishes right and good things; it directs to the right way – to repentance, righteousness, holiness, and heaven. The Gospel message makes people right when it works effectually in them; it engages them to walk in right ways; and its doctrines are right or plain to those who have a spiritual understanding given them.

God’s right and solid Words produce sound and faithful works – “all His work is done in truth”! His works of creation are done with the utmost exactness and accuracy, to wonderfully display His power, wisdom, and goodness: “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made…” (v.6). God’s works of providence are done in the wisest and best manner. His work of redemption is a proof of His veracity, reliability, and faithfulness to His covenant oath and promise. God is faithful to commence and complete His work of grace in the hearts and lives of His people.

Ultimately, our upright and sound lives and faithful works should manifest as evidence that God’s Word is right and solid to the core!
