“The entrance of Your WORDS gives LIGHT; it gives understanding to the simple” – Psalm 119:130
LIGHT is a highly significant Asset in Life, the revelation of which is inspired, sustained, and reinforced by GOD’S WORD of LIGHT: “The entrance of Your WORDS gives LIGHT; it gives understanding to the simple” (Psa.119:130).Light is like the ‘genesis’ of Genesis (Gen.1:3). Our Lord Jesus introduced Himself as “the Light of the world” and Giver of “the light of life” (Jh.8:12; 9:5). He calls us believers “the light of the world” and admonishes us: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works…” (Mt.5:14-16). So, light is meant to produce results, not to be hidden. Light is meant to perform certain life-impacting functions. I recall having been privileged to encounter and share in time past, scriptural insights on the Functions of Light. Here are Seven Key Functions of Light:
Light liberates from darkness: “the light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot comprehend it” (Jh. 1:5). Light always overcomes darkness. Light reveals the hidden works of darkness; it exposes and expels evil. Light cannot be boxed-in; and it liberates those who are chained by darkness. Believers are called to be shining lights in the world – “in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation” (Phil. 2:15).
Light lightens: “Arise, shine, for your light is come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you” (Isa.60:1). It takes the emergence of light to awake, arise, and shine. Light unburdens life. Light lightens and lifts the weights and loads of life. Light is a key dimension of glory. Until light comes, glory is veiled! Because our light ‘is’ come to stay; we can arise and shine, and no darkness is permitted to hold us down!
Light lifts from depression and death: “For You have delivered my soul from death. Have you not kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?” (Psa.56:13). As we walk in line with God’s Word of Light, our souls are delivered from death and our feet from falling. Our Lord says: “…He that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (Jh. 8:12). Light is a Lifter!
Light enlivens: “For with You is the fountain of life: in Your light shall we see light (Psa.36:8-9). Brighter light guarantees better life. Believers in Christ have access to the Light of Life (Jh.8:12). God promised to ensure that our light shines out of obscurity (Isa.58:10).
Light leads: “God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night…” (Gen.1:16a). Light rules and gives direction. The organ of sight leads the rest of the body (Lk.11:34). We are meant to be led through life by God’s Word of Light!
Light illuminates: “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psa.119:105). Light illuminates and brightens our paths in life: “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (Pro.4:18). Without light, no amount of crying can make one to see in darkness! Light commands attraction and attention. God ordained that we brighten our world (Mt. 5:15).
Light enlightens our spiritual eyes: “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling” (Eph.1:18a). This comes through the instrumentality of God’s Word – “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Eph.1:17).
Light represents: purpose, vision, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, secrets, insight, guidance, direction, instruction, dreams, and goals. Light is real, practical, and profitable in all aspects of life. The entrance of God’s Word of Light impacts lives in multi-faceted, colourful variety.

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
