Psalm 20: 1-9

“May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob DEFEND you” – Psalm 20:1

The Believer is absolutely safe and secure through GOD’S WORDS of DEFENCE: “May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob DEFEND you. May He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion” (Psa.20:1-2). “For the LORD is our DEFENCE; and the Holy One of Israel is our King” (Psa.89:18). “But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You DEFEND them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You” (Psa.5:11). It’s time to shout: “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They have bowed sown and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright” (vv.7-8).

The Almighty God is the Keeper of Israel: “Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night” (Psa.121: 4-6). He keeps us from evil, delivers us from the jaws of death, and defends our destinies from the claws of destruction. He defends us from whatever would threaten the serenity in our spirit, our peace of mind, bodily health, and hope for the future.

God is the Defender of the defendless: “The Lord protects defenceless people. When I was weak, he saved me” (Psa.116:6, GOD’S WORD (GW) Translation). He defends individual, cities and territories. He assured Jerusalem: “Like birds flying about, so will the LORD of hosts DEFEND Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; passing over, He will preserve it…For I will DEFEND this city, to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake” (Isa.31:5, 37:35).

The Lord is our Shield from danger at all times. He is our Glory and the Lifter-up of our heads (Psa.3:3).

We can lie down in peace to sleep, and rest assured to awake, because the Lord makes us dwell in safety (Psa.4:8).

God keeps us as the apple of His eye and hides us under the shadow of His wings from the attacks of the wicked (Psa.17:8).

The Lord is our Rock, our Fortress, our Deliverer, our Strength, our Buckler, our Shield, our High Tower, and the Horn of our Salvation. In Him we trust, rest, and take sanctuary and refuge (Psa.18:2). All of these imageries simply illustrate God’s dependability. The object of our trust is not a physical place or material rock, mountain, or tower. Our ultimate trust is in God, through His Son Jesus Christ – our Rock of Ages and Eternal Defender – whose Name is a Strong Tower (Pro.18:10).

As we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, we shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psa. 91:1). We can trust in His Defence, perfect Protection, and supernatural Security. Trusting in Him, we are perpetually, securely sheltered in the Secret Place of the Most High, under His protective wings. We’re delivered from the dominion of darkness and evil; from plagues, pestilences, calamities, and disasters. We are preserved through the agency of guardian angels, and ultimately enjoy multiple blessings of favour (Psa. 91: 4-16).

Beyond God’s assurances of Divine Defence in the Old Covenant, in Christ, the believer is eternally defended: “Yet, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom.8: 37-39). Above all, our Lord assures us: “…lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Amen” (Mt.28:20b).

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
