GOD’S WORDS OF DIRECTION

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall DIRECT YOUR PATHS” – Proverbs 3:6

The abundant, triumphant Life in Christ thrives on GOD’S WORDS of DIRECTION: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall DIRECT YOUR PATHS. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil” (Pro. 3:5-7). This infers that Divine Direction is a vital dimension of Divine Wisdom: “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding” (v.13). Receiving and walking in Divine Direction is fundamental to Destiny Fulfilment. For us to fulfil our divinely-ordained destinies – God’s unique plans and customised purposes – we would need to make wise moves and choices all along the way. No decision is trivial or insignificant: whether with regards to education, career, marriage, location, vocation, ministry or legacy.

“Wisdom is profitable to direct” (Eccl.10:10b, KJV). Wisdom supplies direction – “the way” you must “walk in” to accomplish life’s Vision and reach divine destination: “Your ears shall hear A WORD behind you, saying, “THIS IS THE WAY, WALK IN IT,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left (Isa.30:21). One Word from God is sufficient to set you on the path of Dominion and Distinction! Every step you take in life leads forward, upward, backward or downward. But there are also ‘open doors’ into open ditches. Misdirection can cost decades of delay, set-back, or devastation; and a life devoid of direction equals unending frustration. So, even when everything appears right or safe, the end result may be stagnation or destruction: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Pro.14:12).

God’s Way is always the RIGHT WAY to go: “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the WAY you should GO” (Isa.48:17). When God authors a Vision, He supplies the direction as well. Every heavenly vision is heavenly directed. Paul declared: “King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision” (Acts 26:19). However grand or lofty a vision is, without direction, it may end up as a costly wreckage or absolute failure. Lack of Direction will result in confusion, depression, frustration or even desolation and destruction. God wants us to discover, clearly define, and discern the direction in which we are purposed to go, lay aside every weight of sin and carnal distractions, and focus on the Author and Finisher of our Faith (Heb.12:1-2).

One can pay a lifelong price for a wrong step taken in the past! No matter one’s speed in life, travelling on the wrong road will lead to wandering and never getting to the desired destination. Human ‘calculations’ can never match divine direction: “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD ponders the hearts” (Pro. 21:2). We must beware of carnal and demonic distractions. Whatever does not add value to life’s Purpose or Vision must be subjugated under dominion. God’s Word warns us to “not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding” (Psa.32:9). It is crucial to check the signposts in the prime of life, rather than wait until dusk to discover you’ve travelled the wrong road: “ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established” (Pro. 4:26).

Direction is vital to all of life’s journeys. When God speaks, it pays to listen and obey (Isa.48:18). Here are few more assuring Words of Direction:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will GUIDE you with My eye” (Psa. 32:8).

“Your WORD is a lamp to my feet and a LIGHT to my PATH” (Psa.119:105).

“But the PATH of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (Pro.4:18).

“Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the WAYS and see, and ask for the OLD PATHS, where the GOOD WAY is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls…” (Jer.6:16a).
