GOD ENFORCES PEACE

You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them – Psalm 89:9 (NKJV)

The Lord not only THINKS and SPEAKS Peace, He ENFORCES PEACE. He rules the raging of the sea. He is the Lord over all storms. He is the Commander and Conqueror of storms. He stills the storms, tames the tempests and tempers the terror of the winds and waves to enforce His peace.

Multitudes the world over are living in fear, worries, and great trepidation. The hearts of many – irrespective of status – are troubled. Even the rich and wealthy who are least concerned with the lack of personal provisions are afraid that something dreadful, such as famine, an environmental catastrophe, nuclear holocaust, or a plague out of control, could wipe out human history as we know it. Nuclear weapons are in the hands of many nations, and the possibility of uncontrollable plague is tangible, but these facts need not agitate or disturb believers in Christ.

We are encouraged at such times as these to look up, knowing that our “redemption draws near” (Lk.21:26-28). No matter the troubles and turbulence, tribulations and terror, wars and rumours of war, the child of God need not be perplexed, because like the psalmist, we know the Lord and the joyful sound of salvation, and have the choice to walk in the light of His Presence: “Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance” (Psa.89:15). Beloved, is that your choice?

You can be confident and serene, knowing that no storm of evil will ever stop your journey of destiny. You can smile calmly through the storm or hide in Him when storms sweep over and be shielded from them. Nothing can happen unless the Lord permits it. You can say with the Psalmist, “We will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” (Psa.46:2). What a hiding-place He is for His people! What a Covert from the tempests of life He has promised to remain! He bears the full force of the wind and contains the onslaught of the storms, sheltering those who hide themselves in Him. How wonderful the Peace is that God gives us who trust Him! How mighty is the Everlasting Arm of the Enforcer of our Peace!
