Psalm 59: 1-17

To You, O my Strength, will I sing praises: for GOD IS MY DEFENSE, the God of my mercy – Psalm 59:17

God is our Defence! David said, “He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my DEFENSE; I shall not be greatly moved (Psa.62:2). David knew the Lord as his Shield and Buckler, that is, his Defender (Ps.18:30). Abraham also knew Him as such (Gen.15:1). God, our Shield and Defender, will cover our heads and hearts from the fiery darts of the enemies (Eph.6:16). He will protect and defend us from our enemies, and preserve us from all evil.

Psalm 59 was David’s cry to the Lord for Divine Defence, when Saul sent messengers to watch his house in order to kill him (1 Sam. 19:11). David requested that God would deliver and defend him from his enemies, those who rose up against him, workers of iniquity, bloody men, and those who lied in wait for his soul. The world is still full of such demonic and human agents of the wickedness, but we serve the Lord who is more than sufficient to defend us against all arrows of the enemy.

The phrase “defend me” also means, “set me on high” as it is used in Psalm 91:14: Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I WILL SET HIM ON HIGH, because he has known MY NAME.” This corroborates Proverbs 18: 20, “The Name of the LORD is a Strong Tower: the righteous run to it, and are safe.” His Name is our Place of Safety, Security, and Defence. It’s time to run into the Strong Tower of His Name.

David went on to declare God’s Judgement upon his adversaries, asking that God would punish them in phases: scatter them, bring them down, trap them in their pride and deceit, and consume them in wrath (vs.11-13). The psalm ended on a note of praise (vs.16-17). If David could SING in spite of the adversaries’ attacks, God will cause you to SING Songs of Victory and Triumph this year in Jesus name.

When Sennacherib and his Assyrian forces assaulted Israel, Jehovah assured Hezekiah: “I WILL DEFEND this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake” (Isa. 37:35). He is the Unchanging Changer. He will likewise defend the ‘cities’ of our destinies totally from all forces of evil – spiritual and physical.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
