JESUS – THE DOOR

“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” – John 10:9

The first, foremost and most fundamental Mystery of Doors is the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. It means a lot when the Eternal I AM – not another – described Himself as THE DOOR: “I am the DOOR…” (John 10:9). All other doors fade in significance before this ONE DOOR to accessing Eternal Life!

JESUS is the Door into SALVATION: “If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved…” Through Him we access realms of redemption, forgiveness, and deliverance! In Him, there is no damnation or destruction! In Him there is safety and security! He is not an optional door among many! Jesus Christ is THE DOOR, not just a door among others. He is the one and only true Door into salvation. There is only ONE Way of salvation: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ alone made atonement for our sins. He is the Doorway into eternal life; and there is a future judgment against sin for all who reject Him as the door to salvation. How you respond to Jesus Christ in this life determines where you will spend eternity!

JESUS is the Door into FREEDOM, GRACE and LIBERTY: “If anyone enters by Me, he will…go in and out…” In Him there are no fetters of legalism or chains of bondage. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Cor.3:17). In Him, there is no condemnation (Rom. 8:1). By Him, we enter into the fullest experiences of the Palace of Grace. Through Him, we can proceed boldly into the Father’s Presence to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

Jesus is the Door into abundant PROVISION, PASTURE, and all the BLESSINGS of eternal life: “If anyone enters by Me, he will…find pasture.” He who is the Door is also the Shepherd of the sheep – the Good Shepherd who makes His sheep to “lie down in green pastures” (Psalm 23:2). In Him there is no lack. The Good Shepherd is the one who cares for the sheep, provides for our salvation at the cost of His life, and laid down His life voluntarily for the well-being of the sheep.

Jesus is the Door to all the blessings of eternal life. He is the one and only Gate into heaven; the sole Way to the Father-God. There is no other way. We deserved to die for our own sins, but the perfect Son of God who was without sin – the holy and righteous One – came to save us from our sins. He came and died as our substitute. By means of His death for our sins and His resurrection He became the Door by which sinful humanity can come into the presence of the thrice holy God. He is the “new and living way” (Heb. 10:20), and it is “through Him we . . . have access . . . to the Father” (Eph. 2:18). He declares of Himself: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

There is only one Door to Salvation and Christ Himself is that Door! “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
