THE KING’S UNLIMITED POWER

“ALL AUTHORITY has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” – Matthew 28:18b

Believers must be firmly established in the reality of our KING’S UNLIMITED POWER: “ALL AUTHORITY has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. GO therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt. 28:18b-19). This message was so vital it had to be a key part of the Lord’s last Word to His disciples before His ascension. The last hug, the last kiss, the last look, or the last wave is very precious when loved ones are parting, especially if it could be the last time of meeting for a while. The last word is one that counts. The Great Commission is the last parting message of the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples as found in the Gospels.

Christ’s Command – the Great Commission – was based upon His authority over everyone and everything and everywhere. Power is the ability, capacity, energy, force, might or strength to do, act, perform, or produce efficiently and effectively. In human relationships, power is the positional or legal authority a person holds over another or others. The two Greek words translated Power in the Bible are ‘EXOUSIA’ which as used here, means “authority” and ‘DUNAMIS’ which describes Power in its raw form. Christ fulfilled the righteousness of the Law, which qualified Him to pay the price for our sins on the cross. His death, burial, and resurrection broke the power of Satan, sin and death – in the lives of all who believe on His name!

In His earth-walk, Jesus had demonstrated authority in His teachings, for no man spoke such gracious words that He spoke (Lk.4:22). He proved His authority over nature. Winds and waves calmed at His command (Mt.8:27). He displayed authority over sickness, disease, affliction, and demonic oppression: “He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed ALL who were sick” (Mt.8:16b); “great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them ALL” (Mt.12:15b); “And the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for POWER went out from Him and healed them ALL” (Lk.6:19).

As a result of the finished work of Redemption and the Resurrection, God ascribed ALL authority in heaven and on earth to the Lord Jesus Christ. He became the Head of a new creation of humanity – the new creation “in-Christ”! He has authority to bestow His own eternal life on all who believe on His name. He received pre-eminence in all things! We can have absolute confidence in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for there is no power in heaven or earth or under the earth that is not under His supreme authority, in time and through eternity! At the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow, of things in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father (Phil.2: 9-11).

God’s Unlimited Power is perfectly expressed in His Son. Every other power in the Universe is subject to the Command of King Jesus. And all those who connect by faith with the Person of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour become Partakers of His Power. Knowing Him provides divine Access into Realms of Supernatural Power. His Power birthed our redemption and matures us into sons: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave POWER to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (Jh.1:12). As we grow in Him, we’re trained and nurtured in the dynamics of Divine Power.

God’s Unlimited Authority in Christ puts us in charge, in control and in command, to conquer and subdue every power of the enemy. His Power saves, heals, defends, delivers, lifts, promotes, and performs miracles, signs and wonders. His Power is prophetically ordained to guarantee our manifestation as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,” called us out of darkness into His marvellous light (1Pet.2:9). It’s our season to walk in the demonstration of God’s Spirit and the King’s Unlimited Power for maximized Kingdom Impact and His ultimate Glory!
