Bible Meditation:
1 John 5: 1-20

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may KNOW HIM who is true” – 1 John 5:20a

There is no occult-like mystery to KNOWING GOD’S HEART: “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may KNOW HIM who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life” (1Jh.5:20). To know God’s Heart is to know Jesus Christ and enjoy a relationship which begins by believing on Him personally for salvation. To know Jesus is to know the True God and Giver of eternal life! In addition, we get to know God’s Heart through His Word. We haven’t physically seen Jesus, but we know about Him through God’s Book.

God’s Heart is made plainly known for every longing, thirsty, hungry, yearning, and willing heart to see. The same truth that applies to us all comes from the same Creator of us all. Jesus told Pilate how He spoke openly in the world: “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing” (Jh.18:20). Jesus is the Truth (Jh.14:6). There is no special truth that applies to some special folks. He, as Truth and as the revelation of the Father’s Heart, shatters all the little worlds we try creating and running to, to escape, like Cain did, from the knowledge and law of God.

The Holy Spirit has also been given to all those who believe, to unveil God’s Book to our hearts. Jesus asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to us to quicken us and minister His Heart in His Book to our hearts: He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you (Jh.16:14-15). The Bible is simply ink on paper until we’re spiritually alive to receive God’s words that are spirit and life (Jh. 6:63).

The True God is the One found in the pages of His Book. Anything else is a creation from human imagination, which we are meant to cast down (2Cor.10:5). We are meant to receive our Image of God from the Bible, not carve out our golden calf image of Him (Eso.32). Since Jesus went away, people have been furiously fashioning golden calf religion, the works of their hands, the product of their mind and of a heart departed from God, but covered with religious veils. The Bible is the testimony of Jesus Christ. Without Him we cannot understand the Book. The Jews are still blind because they do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as their King and Saviour. The Book is about Him; therefore He alone is worthy and able to open the Scroll (Rev.5:5).

We know what God’s Heart is. We know that God’s Heart is that He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (Jh.3:16). We know that Holiness is at His Heart; no sin can dwell in His presence (Isa.57:15; 1Pet.1:15-16). We also know that God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2Pet.3:9). There’s much we can learn about God’s Heart from the One who is at His Heart, who demonstrated the Father’s Heart in His earthwalk and declares it to us in His Book. Jesus is the One in the position to tell us what God wills, what God thinks, and what God says. He displayed and declared it openly, to the intent we might believe and be saved.

God longs for us to know His Heart, to tap into His love and plans for us. He designed us to long for the same. May God satisfy our hardwired need to know Him, and may He draw us day by day closer and closer into His loving Embrace, in Jesus name!

Lord, as we long for and commit to KNOWING YOUR HEART, draw us closer and closer into Your loving Embrace, in Jesus name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
