KNOWLEDGE OF GOD (9)

“Wisdom and KNOWLEDGE will be the STABILITY of your times, and the STRENGTH of salvation; the fear of the LORD is His treasure” – Isaiah 33:6

Wisdom and KNOWLEDGE of GOD are keys to Stability and Strength of Salvation in perplexing and uncertain times: “Wisdom and KNOWLEDGE will be the STABILITY of your times, and the STRENGTH of salvation; the fear of the LORD is His treasure” (Isa. 33:6). The word “stability” denotes constancy, firmness, and steadiness. Strength of Salvation stands for Saving Strength. True Wisdom and Knowledge of God lead to Stability and Strength of Salvation, which make us steadfast in the ways of God. Israel was in distress, but God always appeared for His people when all other helpers fail. The Lord God Himself will be our constant source of stability in changing times.

The world is witnessing seasons of instability, insecurity, uncertainty, and volatility in social, political and economic structures, all of which are causing great agitation in many hearts and lives: “Men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken” (Lk.21:26). A whole lot of shaking is going on. People are always looking for a solid foundation for their lives: Sound health, a safe house, a secure job, a protected bank account, or reliable retirement account.

Many are seeking this foundation in the things and ways of this world; but everything that this world produces in and of itself, will fail at some point. Nothing that is of Man will last forever. Empires have risen and fallen. Economies swing between booms and slumps. Fashions flourish and fade. Following the ways of the world is an unsure foundation. Many are living in fear because they do not have a sure footing in life.

While the world is in despair, we can “look up and lift up” our heads (Lk.21:28). As God’s children, we can experience sustained stability and strength because we have access to inside information on how everything will turn out and how to navigate through the unpredictable times. The Wisdom and Knowledge of God guarantee our stability and strength in times of manifold trials: “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials” (1Pet.1:6). Whoever follows Jesus committedly has a solid foundation.

True Wisdom and Knowledge are found only in following God with all of our hearts and lives. With His Knowledge, we can “count it all Joy” when we face various trials, KNOWING that the testing of our faith produces patience (Jam.1:2). “And WE KNOW that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom.8:28). We need not live in fear as the world does. Amidst the shakings and crumbling, we can stand upon the promises of God, the sure foundation that will withstand the sands of time!
