LIFE: PURPOSE ABOVE POSSESSIONS

Bible Meditation:
Ecclesiastes 2: 1-23

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? – Mark 8: 36

Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” – Luke 12: 15 (NIV).

Life is more about PURPOSE than about POSSESSIONS!

The true measure of life is in its MEANING not in its MATERIAL!

Possessions, property and pensions can never guarantee the safety and security of life. The FEAR of losing a job, a career, a position or our retirement benefits – simply INSECURITY – motivate us to amass possessions and stockpile resources like the “tower of Babel”!

Accumulating possessions has a way of eclipsing God from view, particularly when we allow “things” to become idols. The rich fool thought his security resided in his filled-up barn and running-over business. Alas, it was too late to learn that: riches don’t bring security; the more you have – the more you have to lose. The rich fool discovered too late the true essence of life!

God wants us to enjoy things without becoming obsessed with them. That is why Paul wrote: “But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content” (1 Tim. 6:6-8 KJV) And also, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share” (1 Tim.6:17-18 NIV).

You are the richest when you’ve discovered your PURPOSE – your REASON for BEING and passionately pursuing it. Therein resides meaningful living. A life spent in the pursuit of pleasure, power, position, possessions and such things devoid of eternal value, is but a wasted existence.

Never forget to ask: What is the PURPOSE of this POSSESSION? When you PURSUE PURPOSE, POSSESSIONS will PURSUE YOU!

Prayer:
Lord, grant me grace for a meaningful life in the discovery and pursuit of divine purpose, that is far above possessions, in Jesus name!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
