LIGHT ENLIGHTENS

The eyes of your understanding being ENLIGHTENED; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints – Ephesians 1:18

LIGHT ENLIGHTENS. We have seen in the Scriptures some of the most significant dimensions of Light: Vision, Direction, Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, and Instruction. In short, LIGHT brings ENLIGHTENMENT. This echoes the prayer of Paul: “The eyes of your understanding being ENLIGHTENED; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:18). And enlightenment is the platform for empowerment!

LIGHT REVEALS. Light represents Revelation; and Revelation is the root of every positive Revolution. Direction is the key to distinction. In the Kingdom of God, no one triumphs by human might. No one succeeds by carnal power. Rather, we triumph by Light – we triumph by the Spirit (Zech.4:6b). The Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation” (Eph.1:17; 3:5). There are many precious gems that God wants to reveal “to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1Cor.2:10). Enlightenment and Revelation are key aspects of the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The Psalmist prayed for divine enlightenment: “Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law” (Ps.119:18). The ministry of Paul the apostle also focused on this function of light: “to open their eyes and to turn them from DARKNESS to LIGHT, and from the power of Satan to God…” (Acts 26:18). God represents Light; while Satan depicts darkness. God enlightens; Satan blinds: “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has BLINDED, who do not believe, lest the LIGHT of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2Cor.4:4).

Enlightenment is a matter of the heart! 2 Corinthians 4:6 says, “For it is the God who commanded LIGHT to shine out of darkness who has shone in our HEARTS to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”! The apostle declared: “We also have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed as a LIGHT that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (2Pet.1:19). The Light of God’s Word shines to enlighten our hearts through every dark place! His Light guarantees our Dawn and the manifestation of the Morning Star.
