LIGHT OF FAITH FOR HEALING (1)

“And He said to her, “Daughter, YOUR FAITH has made you well. Go in peace, and be HEALED of your affliction” – Mark 5:34

Along with Mercy, another Fundamental in the Ministry of our Lord Jesus, was the LIGHT of FAITH for HEALING: “And He said to her, “Daughter, YOUR FAITH has made you well. Go in peace, and be HEALED of your affliction” (Mk.5:34). This is an amazing story of faith for healing. The woman had been suffering form a hemorrhage for twelve years. She sought help from many doctors, spent all her fortune, but her condition only got worse. Sometimes there is a place for medical intervention, but never to the exclusion of God. As Jesus and the crowd walked past, she thought to herself, “If I just touch His garments, I shall be well.” She had gained sincere faith in the Lord’s Healing Power.

Meanwhile, the woman had lost all faith in doctors. Her problem had not been a lack of faith; it was misplaced faith. She had been believing in doctors, medicine, and various medical treatments above God! Sure enough, as she touched His garment, she was immediately healed. The flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. It was not the amount of her faith that suddenly made the difference, it was that she finally put her faith in Jesus. Faith is based on knowing what God’s Will is: It’s His Will to heal!

Jesus perceived that power had gone out of Him, which seems to indicate that the healing was not from His active will, but from her sincere Faith in His Identity, Authority and Power. She was not doubtful or double-minded. She didn’t wrestle with whether or not it was God’s “Will” to heal her. She didn’t even ask Him to heal her, or seek His permission to be healed! It was all about His Identity! The Lord immediately looked around to see who touched Him. The disciples noted the size of the crowd and the many incidental bumping into Him. But the Lord was looking for the one who was healed. The woman, fearing and trembling came and bowed before Him in reverence.

Finally, Jesus openly commended her Faith, and she went away healed! Healing is a vital portion of our Inheritance in Christ, but it must be appropriated by Faith. If God could heal the soul by faith, He can heal the body! His promises to heal reveal His Will to heal just as His promises to save reveal His will to save. Christ paid for our Healing and Health, but we must reach out and receive what He has purchased for us. The Lord Jesus sent His disciples out to preach, heal the sick, and cast out unclean spirits (Mt.10:1,7-8). James 5:13-16 commands the sick to call the church elders for the Prayer of Faith. These confirm that it is God’s Will for us to pray for healing, and to be healed!
