LIGHT FOR THE FLOURISHING LIFE (2)

“In his days the RIGHTEOUS shall FLOURISH; and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more”– Psalm 72:7

Connected to Christ, we’re assured of LIGHT for the FLOURISHING LIFE: “In his days the RIGHTEOUS shall FLOURISH; and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more” (Psa.72:7). Although this psalm describes the prayers of King David for his son to experience the Reign of Righteousness, it actually points to our Lord Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev.19:16). The righteous is guaranteed to flourish in His Days – and we are in His Days! Praise God! In Christ, we have become “the Righteousness of God” (2 Cor.5:21).

This psalm speaks of: the mountains bringing “peace to the people…by righteousness” (v.3); justice to the poor, deliverance to “the children of the needy,” breaking of the oppressor and redemption “from oppression and violence” (v.4, 12-14); His coming down “like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth” (v.6); abundance of peace (v.7); dominion “from sea to sea, and…to the ends of the earth” (v.8,11); subjugation of the enemies (v.9); pervading prosperity in response to prayer and praise (v.10, 15-16); and fullness of blessings and glory (vv.17-19). Verse 16 speaks of abundance, fruitfulness, and flourishing: “There will be an abundance of grain in the earth, on the top of the mountains; its fruit shall wave like Lebanon; and those of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth” – all founded on righteousness!

God is the Source of our Flourishing. Walking in obedience to His Word, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, He’ll give us His Rains and Showers of Blessings. He assured Israel: “Then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit” (Lev.26:4); “I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil” (Deut.11:14). Deuteronomy 28:12 says, “The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” By the Light for the Flourishing Life, in Christ we have access into Seasons of Flourishing, as our lands receive the Rains of God.

We move from scarcity into prosperity; we rise from minus to plus.

We shall flourish on the platform of redemption and righteousness.

We shall flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

We shall flourish like a tree planted by the rivers of waters.

We shall flourish as people that are planted in the courts of our God.

We shall flourish as living and vibrant branches of the Vine.

We shall flourish wholly – spirit, soul, and body.

We shall flourish all round – spiritually, socially, mentally, maritally, financially, and physically.
