LIGHT FOR THE PURPOSEFUL LIFE (2)

“FOR THIS PURPOSE the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” – 1 John 3:8b

Jesus Christ is the Embodiment of LIGHT for the PURPOSEFUL LIFE: “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. FOR THIS PURPOSE the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 Jh.3:8). Jesus was absolutely conscious of His Life’s Purpose, and fully walked in it. He came for a specific purpose – to do the Will of the Father. That Will, from before the foundations of the world, was the Cross. Jesus was born for this distinct Purpose: To die as the Eternal Sacrifice for sin, and thereby “take away our sins” and “destroy the works of the devil” (vv.5,8). This was not an afterthought or something that He stumbled into!

Just as our Father-God is the God of Purpose, His Son Jesus models the same: “According to the ETERNAL PURPOSE which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Eph.3:11). Jesus knew why He came – the Reason for His Being; His Eternal Assignment. He told Pilate: “For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth” (Jh.18:37). Every one that’s following in His Footsteps can walk in the Light for Purposeful Living, unswervingly towing the Pathway of Purpose.

Jesus declared in John 10:10: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I HAVE COME that they may have LIFE, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Satan came as a thief, killer, and destroyer. In contrast, Jesus came as the Saviour, Life-Giver, Deliverer, and Healer. The Release of the Life of Christ swallows up death in Victory. In unleashing Abundant Life, Jesus destroyed the works of darkness, liberating all who are under the devil’s dominion: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).

Reading from Isaiah’s scroll (Isa.61:1-2), Jesus amplified His Purpose: “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD” (Lk.4:18-19). He ‘discovered’ His Purpose in the Volume of the Book: “Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come – In the volume of the book it is written of Me – To do Your will, O God’” (Heb.10:7). Beloved, Light for the Purposeful Life is available to every Believer in the Volume of the Book! Let’s pursue the Light of Life!

May we be awakened by the LIGHT for the PURPOSEFUL LIFE, walking in dominion over sin and Satan, and fulfilling destiny.
