LIGHT OF UNDERSTANDING (2)

“The EYES of your UNDERSTANDING being ENLIGHTENED; that you may know what is the hope of His calling...” – Ephesians 1:18a

God’s Will for every Believer in Christ is to have our Spiritual EYES sensitized to see the LIGHT of UNDERSTANDING: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the EYES of your UNDERSTANDING being ENLIGHTENED; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:17-18). As we meditate in God’s Word, His Spirit quickens us to become of “quick understanding” like Christ Himself (Isa.11:3, KJV). He ignites His understanding in us, making us supernaturally smart concerning life’s issues and eternal realities.

The Contemporary English Version of Ephesians 1:17-18 says: ^“I ask the glorious Father and God of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you his Spirit. The Spirit will MAKE YOU WISE and LET YOU UNDERSTAND what it means to know God. My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and you will understand the hope given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all God's people.” God’s Flood Light gives Understanding of what it means to know Him, and hope in His Glorious Blessings.

It is pertinent to know how Understanding comes. Meditation is the practical access to Understanding: “I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Your testimonies are my meditation” (Psa.119:99). Understanding comes through the entrance of God’s Word, by the operations of the Holy Spirit (Psa.119:130). This entails committed processing of Knowledge; going beyond the superficial, to mine meanings, virtues, and benefits of revelation at our disposal. Others may have access to similar information, but treat it lightly, and remain in mediocrity.

Understanding helps us to tap into the fullest benefits of knowledge; to actualize all we have acquired through knowledge, and obtain tangible results. It is by Wisdom and Understanding that the Believer walks in the realities of redemption: in dominion over sin, Satan and demons; in divine healing, marital harmony, covenant wealth, and prosperity. Isaiah 11:3 describes the Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Life of Jesus: “And He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears.” Knowledge is often limited to what we can see, hear, touch, smell, or feel; and that’s where it stops. Understanding goes deeper, to obtain more profound results: “Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path...Discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you” (Pro.2:9-11).

The Light of Understanding releases favour for stress-free living: “Good understanding gains favour, but the way of the unfaithful is hard” (Pro.13:15). Understanding guarantees our standing out in life! May we be rightly positioned and the eyes of our understanding enlightened for heavenly visions and earthly impact, in Jesus’ name!
