LIVE LOVE (1)

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another – I John 4:11

Do you sometimes ponder on exactly what God wants you to do, especially when you have an array of choices, demands and options to respond to. That seems normal; so do I.

However, in our pursuit of big dreams and the desire to do big things for God, we often become oblivious to the little ASSIGNMENTS of LOVE that life readily offers us. We prefer God’s glittering neon-signs and big directional bill-boards; but often, He simply wants us to pay attention and respond to what He places right in front of us…the neighbours needs of love we can meet, the niche of kindness we can fill, the fellowship of joyful hospitality we can share, or the sacrifice of service we can offer…

God is not demanding our occasional ‘mighty’ acts of kindness, but that we LIVE LOVE on a perpetual basis; always thinking of and seeking for ways to bless and make life better for others…our neighbours – the souls we encounter moment-by-moment along the busy, dusty pathways of life. You can engage in ‘little’ but impactful assignments of love:
- a smile of kindness or word of comfort in its season;
- a thought and prayer to uplift the weak and weary;
- a soothing balm of inspiration to heal an aching heart or frayed nerves;
- a word of hope, counsel or encouragement to lighten up a dark and fearful heart;
- an open heart, outstretched arms and authentic hug for society’s outcast;
- a homely dinner with a lonely heart or a crumbling couple; or
- a helping hand of compassion for the beaten, the burnt-out or the down-and-out.

Oh, that the Lord would stir your heart to sense your next assignment of love in the unfolding and wonderful story of life, and to respond promptly and positively to His divine nudging.
