THE LORD IS YOUR SUN

But unto you that fear my name the SUN of RIGHTEOUSNESS shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves – Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)

Today, we dig deeper into the gems of revelation in Psalm 84:11, “For the Lord God is a SUN…” This means that the Lord God is our Ultimate Source of Light, Life, and Radiant Glory. He is our unquenchable Illuminator and Energy-Generator!

Malachi 4:2 describes the Lord as the “Sun of Righteousness” who shall arise “with Healing in His wings” unto those who fear His name – that is, to those who walk uprightly with Him. The Sun of Righteousness referred to here is a Person, not the impersonal sun out there in the sky. The Sun of Righteousness is Jesus Christ, the SON of GOD. Similarly, the word “healing” is not limited in meaning to bodily healing; it embraces salvation, redemption, and deliverance. About two thousand years ago, Jesus – the Sun of righteousness – arose from death with salvation, redemption and deliverance in His wings.

In all of God’s physical, visible creation, the sun is in a class of its own. It has a unique quality, which distinguishes it from all other planetary bodies. That quality which makes it distinct is called: “the glory of the sun” (1 Cor. 15:41). As far away as the sun is from the earth, its glory is not a hidden glory: its light, heat, and radiation. If the glory of the sun is so unique; much more is the Glory of the SON (Jh.1:14). The SON created the sun; therefore, nothing can be compared with the glory of the Son – infinite and beyond comprehension. The glory of the sun is only an imperfect illustration of the Glory of the Son!

As the Lord God manifests as my Sun of Righteousness, I will “Go forth” and “Grow up” (Mal.4:2 KJV). This means that I will enjoy unhindered Progress, Promotion, Elevation, and Enlargement. Just like the physical sun continually nourishes life on earth, so the Sun of Righteousness will nourish me with the brightest of His Light, the richness of His Love, and the fullness of His Life this New Year and beyond, in Jesus name.
