Psalm 119: 9-24

OPEN MY EYES to SEE the MIRACLE-WONDERS hidden in YOUR WORD” – Psalm 119:18, The Passion Translation

It takes the opening of our spiritual eyes to see the MIRACLE-WONDERS in GOD’S WORDS: OPEN MY EYES to SEE the MIRACLE-WONDERS hidden in YOUR WORD” (Psa.119:18, TPT). David was asking God to open his eyes to let him perceive, be enlightened, and understand God’s Word to the extent of partaking of the Miracle-wonders therein. He wanted the glorious wonders of Scriptures to be unveiled, revealed, and received. This was a simple but potent prayer for spiritual illumination. Divine truth cannot be apprehended naturally, but by supernatural revelation. Without God opening our eyes and hearts to the wonders in His Word, we just would miss out on so much if we relied on our myopic and limited intellect.

There are so many wonders in God’s Word. In the last ten days, we have meditated on the Wonders of God’s Mercy, Grace, Love, His Greatest Gift, Faithfulness, Splendour, Stature, Power, Humility, and Greatness. There are still many more Wonder-dimensions in His Word. As we ask Him to open our spiritual eyes while hearing, reading, meditating on, or studying His Word, we will discern and perceive the wonders therein and be illuminated by His truth. God will open our eyes to the miracles and marvels, as we strive for deeper understanding and the spiritual wisdom found in His Word. He’ll open our eyes to His teachings until we marvel at the wonders found in the Bible. Like our eyes appreciate and dwell on the beauty of an opening rosebud, God will teach us to open our eyes to dwell on and appreciate the miracle-wonders hidden in His Word.

The Bible is a world of wonders! But God Himself must unveil revelation to each heart. His Word is filled with truth that can only be seen with eyes opened by His Spirit. Using a diverse array of personalities, God wrote a Book that He knew we could not understand without the miracle of “open eyes.” He then invites us to ask Him for that miracle! In answering our petition, God by His Spirit would remove the scales from our natural, spiritually-blind eyes in order for us to see and receive supernatural truth, which cannot be apprehended in a natural way. God desires that we discover the Wonders in His Word, not through mere sightseeing, but by means of serious searching, deep digging, keen exploration, and the Miner’s mentality!

The word “open” means to uncover, reveal, expose, or remove the lid from that which was concealed. Scripture requires opening; but the veil is not on the book, but on our hearts. We often neglect God’s perfect precepts, precious promises, and priceless privileges because we wander among them like blind men among the beauties of nature, and they are to us as a landscape masked in darkness! We must endeavour to forsake all self-reliance as we hear and receive God’s Word, seeking the power of the Holy Spirit – not to tell us things that aren’t in the Scriptures, but to unveil the wonder of what is in the Word.

Although he didn’t have the complete canon of scriptures that we have today, David was sure of the bountiful truths in God’s Word. He valued what he had more than many people prize the whole; hence he pleaded for power to encounter the wonders in the Word the way an embattled commander longs to see reinforcements arrive or a stranded sailor yearns to see a ship (v.20). Beholding wonders wasn’t just for fun. Life could be hinged on it (v.17). David had prayed to not wander from God’s commandments (v.10); he had been hiding the Word in his heart (v.11); learning it (v.12); sharing it (v.13); meditating on it (v.15); and delighting in it in order to not forget it (v.16, 24).

Vast treasures in the Word are yet to be discovered. There are marvels we’ve not beheld and mysteries scarcely unveiled. Our spiritual eyesight must be opened for the spiritual beauty, wisdom, and glory of the Word to be discovered. Our discovery of the miracle-wonders in God’s Word will terminate every aimless wandering in the world!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
