MODELS OF DOMINION (III)

“Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” – Daniel 3:25 (NKJV)

Today, we turn our meditations towards Elisha, Isaiah and the three Hebrew youths – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:

• Elisha literally obtained and displayed the double portion of Elijah’s spirit! Though already chosen by God to be Elijah’s successor, this new prophet in town had to personally press into the unction. The initial casting of mantle was simply a calling to discipleship – to minister to Elijah (1Kgs.19:19-21). Elisha did not receive the power for performance on the platter of gold. He had to painstakingly and persistently press from Gilgal, to Bethel, through Jericho, and finally to Jordan. There were overtures made for him to give up or go back, but having put his hand to the plough, he refused to look back (Lk.9:62). He returned from the divine encounter as a One-man dominion squad: he divided River Jordan, multiplied the widow’s oil, healed bitter water and poisonous stew, made axe swim, and raised the dead (2Kg. 4, 6 & 13).
• Isaiah interjected into the natural order of the universe, by causing the sundial to delay its movement. Following in the stead of Joshua and Samuel, Isaiah demonstrated dominion on earth through this heavenly sign (2kg.20:9-11). Isaiah offered the sign to King Hezekiah, in order to prove that God was speaking through him. God can go to any length to prove Himself strong and true on behalf of those who believe in and trust Him. Determine to be one and to remain one of such!
• Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego – the three champions of dominion – were not hurt in the fiery furnace. When these three holy children were thrown into the fire of King Nebuchadnezzar, their faith attracted the fourth man into the fire and He converted their test into a testimony. The fourth man – Jesus Christ – is set to appear in your situation and walk with you as long as your heart is knitted to His. You will not be hurt by the heat of life. The fourth Man will empower you to be cheerful through the fires. He will turn your pressures into pleasure, and cause the flames of life’s trials to burn off every chain and set you loose from the bondages the enemy intended to perpetuate against your destiny. You will laugh last and laugh best over your adversaries in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ!
