ORDAINED TO REIGN

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and HAVE DOMINION OVER the fish of the sea, and OVER the fowl of the air, and OVER every living thing that moveth upon the earth – Genesis 1:28

God’s first words to Man were to command and ORDAIN him to REIGN in dominion. Man indeed began to reign, until Sin overthrew him from his position of dominion. Prior to the intrusion of Sin, Adam walked in such supremacy of wisdom that he single-handedly handled the herculean task of giving names to all members of the animal kingdom (Genesis 2:19).

The tragic fall of the first Adam necessitated the incarnation and birth of the last Adam – Jesus Christ: And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).

 Isaiah 9:6-7 reveals “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulders…”

Jesus was BORN to REIGN! To be King was the purpose of His birth. He became a baby in order to fulfil His destiny of reigning on earth. He was incarnated in the flesh that He might become King of kings and Lord of lords. He began as a baby in a manger. Even the wise men knew He was destined to be King when they came from the East bearing gifts (Matthew 2:2). He however had to grow up and learn some things before He could ultimately be exalted to sit at the right hand of the Father. He had to be trained to reign. He had to be trained for the Throne!

 Romans 5:17 says “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one (Adam); much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ”.

Jesus was born to reign; believers in Christ are BORN AGAIN to REIGN WITH HIM. When we trust and believe in Jesus Christ, the authority and power that was lost through Adam’s transgression is restored to us. As the children of the Most High God, we are destined:
to judge the world and angels: Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (1 Corinthians 6:2).

Jesus promises rulership to Overcomers; and He desires every believer to be an Overcomer:

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: (Revelation 2:26).

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne (Revelation 3:21).

Remember: In Christ, you were born to reign. You have been ordained to reign in life! Sin and its wages – disease and death – shall not have dominion over you. You are destined to be an Overcomer in time and for all of eternity!
