OUR FAITH IS THE VICTORY

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is THE VICTORY that has overcome the world, even OUR FAITH – 1 John 5:4

Whatever may be the challenges of life, OUR FAITH is THE VICTORY that overcomes: “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and THIS IS THE VICTORY that has overcome the world, even OUR FAITH (1 Jh.5:4). So far we’ve examined diverse aspects of FAITH: It’s Present-Tense reality (Heb.11:1); Faith as a Cornerstone of Christianity (1Cor.13:13); Faith as Destiny’s Doorway (Rom.5:2); the Force of Faith (Mk.5:34); How Faith Comes (Rom.10:17); Faith as Believing and Behaving (Jam.2:17); the kernel of Faith in God (Mk.11:22); By Faith Exploits (Heb.11: 4-40); Faith as Sixth Sense (2Cor.4:18; 5:7); the Measure of Faith (Rom.12:3); Unfeigned Faith(1Tim.1:5); Standing by Faith (2Cor.1:24); Living Faith (Heb.10:38); and Great Faith (Mt.8:10; 15:28).

Given those foundational truths, the ultimate Product, Result and Reward of FAITH is the VICTORY – both in Time and in Eternity. Faith is our avenue to Victory. Faith is our divinely-ordained Instrument of Dominion. FAITH is a MUST if VICTORY is our dream and Glory our goal! Whoever and whatever is born of God has in-built capacity for the Victory that Overcomes, indeed “that HAS OVERCOME the world” (1Jh.5:4). FAITH in GOD and in His WORD guarantees VICTORY over Sin, Satan, the world, and the Flesh: “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psa.119:11). WHAT is VICTORY?

Victory is an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle or competition. To be Victorious is to be a Victor or Champion. For the Believer in Christ, it is to conquer, overcome, gain the upper hand, win in life’s battles, and be More-than-Conqueror: “Yet in all these things we are more than conqueror through Him who loved us” (Rom.8:37). God has called us to live the victorious, overcoming, Christ-based life; abundant, full, fruitful, fulfilling, prosperous, productive, successful, and maximized life. The opposite is a frustrated, defeated and despondent life. Unfortunately, this aberration and evil error that ought not to be, seems to be the experience of some believers: “servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth” (Ecc.10:5-7).

IN CHRIST we have the Victory: “But thanks be to God, who gives us THE VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1Cor.15:57). Satan simply tries to wrest it from our hands; hence we must “fight the good fight of faith” (1Tim.6:12). For the Believer, Warfare is inevitable, but Victory is assured by Faith! Whoever restrains us from the Fight of Faith, is attempting to rob us of our Trophies of Triumph and Victory. Faith in God and His Word conquers all oppositions. There is nothing under the sun that cannot be subdued by Faith. No instrument of flesh can ever defeat Faith. If we’ve been born of God, we possess the Victory that overcomes the world!

To overcome is to come out on top, prevail, and subdue the enemies. David overcame Goliath. Daniel overcame all oppositions. In Christ, we always overcome because He has already overcome and obtained the Victory over Sin, Satan, demons, darkness, depression, diseases, destruction, and death. He alone has the Victory to give! The Lord of lords has secured eternal Victory for all who believe in Him unto salvation (Mt.28:18b). Everything about JESUS spells V-I-C-T-O-R-Y: In God’s Word, and Jesus is the Word (Jh.1:14); in the Name of Jesus (Phil.2:10); and in His Blood: “In whom we have redemption through His Blood…” (Col.1:14).

The Victory at Calvary and on Resurrection Morn answers to all battles of life. The Victory obtained must however be enforced and sustained, in order to be enjoyed! Whatever seems to be bringing us into subjection indicates the need to build up our Faith in that dimension of life. FAITH is a personal, non-transferable responsibility for the VICTORY. Faith is a must for the Spirit-Life, as breathing is to keeping physically alive. Just as I cannot demand that another breath for me, I cannot transfer the responsibility of faith to another person: “…the just shall live by HIS FAITH” (Hab.2:4). Even Small Steps of Faith lead to large expanses of Victory!
