THE POWER OF VISION (3)

“And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know” – Ezekiel 37:3

The prophet Ezekiel exemplifies THE POWER of VISION for Restoration and Revival: “And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know” (Eze.37:3). In this Vision, Ezekiel stood amidst a vast valley filled with dry, lifeless bones, and was commanded by God to prophesy life into them. What unfolded was a remarkable testament to the power of God's Word and Spirit, for hope, restoration, renewal, and the promise of new life. Rich symbolism and timeless messages are embedded in this Vision, shedding light on its relevance for the lives of contemporary Believers in Christ.

In its historical context, this vision was a message to the people of Israel who were in exile and felt as though their nation was dead. God promised to restore Israel, bring them back to their land and revive their national identity. He is faithful to His promises and His ability to restore and renew! Here are some profound insights into the significance of this Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones:

The vision describes the Restoration of God’s people, not the physical resurrection of specific individuals, as evidenced in the context. God’s Power to restore Israel to its land is an encouraging reminder that He always keeps His promises.

The two-part “resurrection” mirrors Genesis 2:7, which describes the creation of Adam. Gor initially created the phenomenally complex human body with 100% of everything intact and ready to work, and then, breathed in a part of His life into each of us; hence making us in His image and likeness. God wants to breathe His Spirit not only into every human being who’ll come to Him in humility and submission.

The vision represents Hope in a situation of utter hopelessness and despair. The bones were "very dry," indicating that they had been dead for a long time. Yet, through the power of God's Word and Spirit, they were brought back to life. No matter how dire our circumstances, there is always hope with God.

It demonstrates God's power to revive and restore what is dead or lost. Just as the dry bones were brought back to life, God can breathe new life into dead or struggling areas of our lives, whether that be relationships, dreams, physical, marital, or spiritual vitality.

It is symbolic of Unity and Reconciliation as the vision ends with the once-scattered bones forming a vast, united army. This reminds us that God desires His people to be united and that He has the power to bring together what has been divided or broken.
