Bible Meditation:
Psalm 105: 1-45

The people asked, and He brought quails, and SATISFIED them with the bread of heaven Psalm 105:40

Even in the harsh and dry desert, God satisfied His people “with the bread of heaven” (Psa.105:40). A key aspect of the Blessing of the Lord is for one to be SATISFIED in life. Deuteronomy 33 records the final blessings of Moses on the children of Israel. In particular, his pronouncement on Naphtali directly links Satisfaction with Blessing:  And of Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, SATISFIED with favor, and full of the BLESSING of the LORD, possess the west and the south” (Dt.33:23). The same link is established in Psalm 65:4, “Blessed is the man whom You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.”

God satisfies the earth with harvest: “He waters the hills from His upper chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works” (Psa.104:13). He who satisfies the earth is more than able to satisfy your life’s deepest desires and longings. Psalm 36:8 affirms: “They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house; and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.”  Are you really deriving satisfaction from the fullness of God’s house? Or, are you wallowing in the world’s woes and enduring dissatisfaction? Jehovah promised: “I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness,” says the LORD” (Jer.31:14). Joel 2:26 proclaims: “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, who has dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be put to shame.” May you be satisfied with heavenly provisions, God’s goodness, and abundance of blessings, in Jesus name!

Divine Satisfaction belongs to the upright: “They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied” (Psa.37:19). God wants you to be truly satisfied in Him. The Proverbs offer other Secrets of Satisfaction:

  • Positive Confession: “A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth…” (Pro.12:14a). Also, “a man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, and from the produce of his lips he shall be filled” (Pro.18:20).
  • Fear of the LORD: “The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil” (Pro.19:23). I pray that you will abide in satisfaction, and shall never be visited with evil, in Jesus name!
  • Diligence: “He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread: but he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding” (Pro.12:11). The diligent person is entitled to satisfaction: “Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread (Pro.20:13).

The Bible consistently uses the image of “bread” to represent satisfaction. Ultimately, there can be no true satisfaction in life outside of Jesus – “the Bread of Life” (Jh.6:48). One day, a multitude of people sought Him out because He had performed the miracle of multiplying loaves of bread (Jh.6:11,26). They asked Him to perform a sign like the manna from heaven that Jehovah had provided for His people in the wilderness (Jh.6:30-31; Exo.16:4). The people didn’t understand when Jesus declared that He was “the true Bread from heaven” (Jh.6:32). They wanted literal daily bread, but He revealed that He had been sent to be their Spiritual Bread, and to supply their daily spiritual needs. The Lord is giving us the same assurance. If we would, by faith, receive His Life and apply His Words, we’ll experience unceasing satisfaction: “I am the Bread of Life, He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” (Jh.6:35).

Jesus doesn’t want to be an optional item in your diet; He desires to be the essential staple in your life, your “necessary” food. Only Jesus – our Spiritual Bread – satisfies the hunger of the soul. May you never attempt to live without Him!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
